This review is based on the rebranded restaurant "Phillips Place Bistro". I was excited to try it because I stumbled upon an ad for it on Instagram. I had never been to the original Bonterra before or had even heard about it. My husband and I went on a Friday night for dinner around 5:30. We asked to sit outside because inside seemed VERY loud, like it was more of a bar-type of place. We were seated out back because it was more shaded, which is what we asked for, but staring at a parking lot and the back of the building isn't exactly the greatest, but we overlooked it. As a suggestion, it would be nice if they put in large, tall planters, densely spaced, around the back patio, to hide the view of the parking lot. I ordered the $45 filet mignon, my husband had the rigatoni with meat sauce. My dish came with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Let me begin by saying the meat did NOT look like filet mignon I'm used to seeing. It was MUCH thinner, and just...I don't know, meh. I didn't even touch the broccoli because it looked veeery overcooked. Definitely NOT worth $45. My husband wasn't impressed by his dish either. The "meat sauce" was actually shredded beef. When I see the words "meat sauce", I'm thinking, ground beef. That should be specified in the menu. Also, the bread and fancy butter that came before our dinner wasn't anything special either. The butter tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for a while, and I didn't really like the weird flavor. Enter in dessert. The waiter recommended the carrot cake, so that's what we got. Who doesn't like carrot cake, right? THIS carrot cake was probably the worst one I've ever had. Absolutely bland, no flavor, lacking in sugar, the spice that you taste in a carrot cake(cinnamon, nutmeg), shredded carrot, etc. The cream cheese in between the layers, or whatever that was supposed to be, was just some flavorless, white cream, and the "streusel" on top was just gritty sugary stuff. We were told it was made "in-house". That really proves nothing, but when you're told that, you think, oh, well then it *must* be good! All in all, this experience was a huge disappointment. We won't be back. Southpark is HUGELY overrated. I don't know what it is about this area. It's a wealthy part of town, the mall has expensive stores, but the restaurants/bakeries are just not up to par with quality you would expect for wealthy clientele. One and done for us.

Delicious brunch, great cocktails and friendly staff! I went with friends who come here every week for brunch and I agree with them, it’s a great place to hang out and enjoy a leisurely visit with friends. Will definitely be back when in the area.

We have been here many times. It’s a great place to stop for a cocktail and also to come for a fabulous steak dinner. The short ribs are consistently delicious! Highly recommend!

This place is obviously coasting on its reputation, maybe aggravated by its impending closing. Just had one of the marginally edible meals of my life. Time for it to close.

We had a Charlotte family reunion night out here at Bonterra. It is a church that has been converted to a restaurant. We reserved a private room - the Choir Room. It was secluded, cozy and perfect for our family of 14. The menu started out with great appetizers, cocktails and wine. Our waiter was supposedly new but he was great. Entrees varied per person, some had steak, lobster, pasta and salads. None of us were disappointed. For dessert, we ordered one of every dessert and made sure everyone at the table had spoons and clean dessert plates. It was fun. We found the bathrooms to be clean as well as the whole premises we could see. We knew it would be expensive because we looked at the menu before making our reservation. It was totally a memorable dining experience with our family and next time we are in Charlotte, we will go again.

Arrived early so sad at the bar to take in the unique setting. I converted church that has been a restaurant for 23 years now. Had a great bartender Melissa and she took care of us. They are known for their great steaks and for their deep fried lobster. Which both me and my husband had one of and it was great. Will definitely be back and will probably sit at the bar with Melissa. The appetizers look great and their charcuterie boards look fantastic.

The food is overpriced and mediocre at best. I found most of the staff to be off putting and the bathrooms weren’t very clean. There was a residue on my wine glass that seemed like previous lipstick markings and the staff made requesting a new glass very uncomfortable even though I was polite about it. We thought it would be a fun stop while we toured Charlotte but honestly the over all quality on all counts was not worth the time and price of the experience. I don’t recommend them.
