This was my first time eating at this restaurant. I was really feeling Caribbean food for my bf & I to eat for our anniversary. We were NOT disappointed ? The Mango Jerk chicken wings were the perfect amount of spice & sweetness. I’d never had oxtail but had been meaning to try, it was as good as everyone says it is! Zoiee, the manager, had awesome customer service & gave us some good recommendations. If you don’t have time to wait 20 minutes for food, call ahead. Things are made FRESH which is awesome. The wait was worth it for sure.

I use to be going to this place for years since 2015. This place food is going down hill over the years and punch drinks. Their oxtails doesn’t taste anything Caribbean. It taste like some type of beef stew out of a can, the meat wasn’t falling off the bone and it was tough. I couldn’t even finished my food. The rice doesn’t taste right either. The Mac & cheese doesn’t taste right or the same. It’s disgusting. I’m very disappointed and will not be coming back. .i should’ve ordered Irie nation instead.

Staff greeted us warmly & was very patient while offering suggestions for 1st time patrons. We ended up dining in. The authentic ambiance & background music made us feel like we were in Jamaica. If only for a meal, LOL.. Back to the meal! The food was EXCELLENT! We had the jerk chicken, rice and peas, mac n cheese, cabbage, coco bread, & signature juice. Needless to say, found our new spot!Parking: Popular area

Flavor.. Flavor.. Flavor… the food needs more seasoning. We ordered oxtails, curry chicken, jerk chicken… no flavor. Never have I had to add salt and pepper to Caribbean food. But, the portion size was good. Just wish the flavor was there.

Oxtail dinners are expensive, so there shouldn't be such a huge disappointment in the taste as I had. The entire meal tasted like frozen leftovers that were thrown in a microwave.

This was a great experience, I had already expected to be impressed because of the culture of taste I was craving. I was able to have everything that I wanted to try. The love and atmosphere here feels just like home. I would recommend if anyone is in the area to come here and taste the dedication that is put into the recipes and enjoy the feel of being blown away by the taste and potent flavor. Thanks a lot, I will stop by here more frequently when I am in Charlotte.Vegetarian options: I was able to have all the veggies that I wanted with the added spice from the jerk sauce.

Went to this place today 3/2/24 with my Sister because we were in Charlotte. Googled restaurants near us, this one stood out because of great reviews. Well, not sure if customers really know what Caribbean/Jamaican food should taste like. This place is NOT IT!. There was a line to order, only one person to serve, he was not friendly at all, another young woman came in to assist, then older woman came in, (I presumed this was Momma). I ordered large oxtail plate with 2 sides, collard/Mac & cheese… this was the kicker!!! No more Mac & cheese, Moma said she had to go bake more, really?? In the middle of late lunch/dinner… unbelievable!? Ordered side of plantains, they ran out of those also..got refund. The Food: the oxtails were very tough, for $35 I was not expecting to only get 5 bones of tough meat, mushy peas & rice, was not a fan of their collard greens. Again no Mac & cheese, got the sweet potatoes, it was the best part of the meal. We were sssssoooo disappointed with this non-Caribbean meal. Also the food was not hot, just like warm. I am from NY, have traveled several times to Jamaica so I know how Caribbean food taste…. THIS DEFINITELY WAS NOT IT! Best of luck to this establishment, I absolutely will not return!

Most people that reviewed Mama’s said it was good… I beg to differ. I ordered large oxtails with Mac n cheese, how do you run out of Mac n cheese in the middle of the day? I got 5 pieces of oxtails 2 of the pieces were not even edible ( tough). As a native New Yorker, I have experienced authentic Jamaican food in NY and Jamaica I don’t know what they are doing here but someone needs to rethink this. Also, when we arrived there was one man working doing everything in slow motion with a line waiting. Ps they ran out of plantains, the food was not not, and Mama said she had to go and bake some more Mac n cheese.God Bless Mama but she needs to retire!!
