Still Traveling
We really enjoyed our meals here. The staff was welcoming. There was a thirty minute wait for a hibachi table, but we sat at the sushi bar and loved everything we tried!The only negative about the experience is it gets so smoky in there from the hibachi grills and then you leave smelling like it.

Meh. Haven't been in 12 years, I remember why. Service was very attentive, but the quality of food is sub par at best. For $40, after seeing the ayce buffet quality steak, I assume the price is more about the show than food quality. A true Charlotte staple and long time restaurant, it was good for nostalgia when this was the new thing in town, but definitely not worth the porce tag for mediocre food. Needs a good update inside also, dark, crowded and outdated. Sushi is way better at the ayce place around the corner, as their fish tasted very gamey.

Alex was an awesome chef! I didn’t catch our waitresses name, but she was amazing as well and has been there 19 years. Such a great time with great food. We will be back soon!
Most of our party was at the restaurant , the last of our party was 5 min past the grace period on a slow night. They would not honor our reservation for 11 people. Terrible service. We ended up spending over $500.00 at the Korean bbq down the road. Glad we didn’t spend it at Nakato. Never have been here, and I’m never going to come back.

After a 10+ year pause on Japanese steakhouses, we had a large party here for my son’s birthday. He and his friends really enjoyed the dinner. My husband and I sat at the sushi bar and ate some rolls and edamame.The atmosphere was dark and a light smoke hung in the air. This might be unavoidable with the fire and steam as part of the show, but it did bother me. They do have large fans over the cooking areas. It was very crowded also, but on a Saturday night this is probably to be expected.The hibachi diners reported the food was excellent. We didn’t realize they were going to mix the food orders and give everyone some of each others orders. My son is significantly allergic to shrimp and began coughing and sneezing and his throat tightened as soon as he started eating. He ordered steak but some shrimp was put on his plate. He didn’t eat it, but shrimp must have touched his food somehow. It would be best if the waiter asked about food allergies at the time of ordering and took careful precautions. It could be an extremely dangerous mistake to make.
