The bbq brisket was overcooked,dry and overpriced. Salad was fair, only reason I gave 1*. Bbq sauce wasn't bad. Workers were borderline rude. Tread careful. Won't be returning.

I had been wanting to try Sweet Lew's for quite some time and on this beautiful Saturday afternoon I had the time and proximity to get in. I drove over to the Belmont area of Charlotte and Sweet Lew's smelled amazing. I go in and I loved the vibe of restaurant. I ordered brisket CAB, pulled pork, and ribs, and smoked chicken. Sides were Mac n cheese and collards. The food was mid at best where the ribs were definitely the star of the show. As I was biting into the pulled pork I literally said out loud....this guy Sweet Lew isn't from North Carolina (he's from Ohio according to his bio) because the pulled pork lacked in flavor the most. I took the chicken home and added some sauce to it which made it better but without that pizzazz from my own kitchen this would have been subpar. The sides aren't even worth mentioning but I was most disappointed in the collards. I didn't finish the meal. This is at best good enough for a transplant without a taste for BBQ.

You should probably order online if you want to come here. Drove an hour to try this place for my birthday. Arrived at 5pm on Saturday night. Waited in line 30 minutes. Right when we made it to the counter to order a staff said hold on we have to prepare an online order that just came in - watched in disbelief as the last of the brisket was allocated to that order.. online gets prioritized over waiting customers. Extremely disappointing left to find brisket elsewhere.

$16.24 for rice and hash. This is supposed to be the family size. It’s mostly overcooked rice. I still decided to taste it and it’s a big no for me. I ended up throwing it in the garbage. It’s not like the hash I grew up on back home.

nice swing. liked the animal mural that had nothing to do with this restaurant. swing on the bench and look at that mural. just tell them don't take that barbecue out the bag, i'd like to carry the bag over to the swing and swing while i eat barbecue out of a bag. cat was trying to eat a beautiful butterfly. rabbit seemed shocked at behavior. cute dog. don't know why bird was there. kids at the restaurant were not well behaved but wife said they were but they werent. they were kicking a soccer ball off the railing. why do they put a drink chest in front of the register? you have to reach over it to pay and to get your food. sides were good. hush puppies very good, nice crisp crunch outer skin. collared greens, how do they make em this good? these collards, very good. when wife makes collards: bland. wife thinks they're good. not as good as sweet baby lew's. do you think sweet baby lew is friends with sweet baby ray? he makes the chips. who makes the chips? does sweet baby ray make chips or sauce or both? i think its a sauce, somebody let us know if sweet baby rays is a sauce or a chip? didn't like that the barbecue was pulled out of a ziplock bag. if you pull barbecue out of a ziplock bag in front of me, star is already removed because im thinking thats cold and thats old. and it was. smoked sausage good. dirt pie good, as expected. nothing special, liked it though. seems fine if you're over there. might as well.

As much as you are paying for the food, it was not worth it.
The ladies upfront are very sweet and extremely kind. But that doesn’t make up for the dry tasteless brisket, tastless pulled pork, and average ribs. Mac and cheese was ok at best. Cheesy grits are good. For about the same prices I would drive out of my way and go to THE SMOKE PIT. Not sure if they offer refunds but if they do I definitely need one. They’re very nice people but the food is lackluster to say the least. I’ve eaten at different smokehouse or bbq house whatever you want to call it but this is by far the worst as far as the food goes. Service and atmosphere is great!

Very well made. I’d say this is “medium-to-advanced” level bbq, as opposed to, say the overly-salty or sweet “popular” taste of some other places. The pork is moist, which I imagine is not easy to achieve. The relatively dry brisket feels more like a stylistic choice than anything else. The taste of flavorful smoke is present throughout. Only reason for the four star is coz this is not necessarily perfectly to my taste, not being from here, but I can recognize good cooking. (My dining companion ate all the ribs so I have no direct opinion on it)
