Someone once told me if you don’t smell smoke from the outside, never trust a BBq spot and damnit if this wasn’t the truth. Drive to fort mill, Blue Smoke House if you want some good BBQ. ?

Traveling through the area with pets in the car, opted for a parking-lot picnic with The Q Shack. Our food had been sitting and was ready way before the email advised for pickup. This was at lunchtime on a Wednesday, spending $34. Brisket Sandwich was very flavorful but it needed the two packets of mayonnaise on the dry bread. Side of macaroni and cheese had zero cheese flavor and tasted like oil and seasonings, which was pretty disappointing. Hush puppies were great. Pulled Pork Sandwich was dry and a tough, but flavor was there. Collards as a side were super hot and mediocre on the flavor scale. Potato salad side was ice cold, too cold to enjoy, and is more like loaded mash potatoes in a way.
My fiancé and I stopped here on a wim and they did not disappoint. Amazing brisket, and the best fried okra ever!! Hush puppies are very good as well. Super affordable for the amount of food you get. And let’s not forget the amazing deviled eggs!!!

Prices are good for bbq and everything came out super quick yet super fresh. Definitely ranks up there for good bbq but also the service was friendly, place was clean, and was just a nice experience.
The Q Shack is my favorite bbq place in Charlotte! We’ve always liked the restaurant for family lunches, but they really went above and beyond at a wedding we went to recently! The food was fantastic and the catering manager and her team were so wonderful! We already referred them to our engaged friends and will be using them for catering needs in the future <3

If you are having a special event such as a wedding or a large gathering, I highly encourage you to stop looking and to call/email Daniese and Barry with Q Shack. They catered for my wedding with my wife and I have never received so many compliments about how great the food I’ve chosen for others before my wedding. Everybody had a fantastic review to give me about the food (beef brisket, pulled pork, Mac and cheese and potato salad). Their service at my wedding deserves 6 stars instead of 5. They treated everyone in my wedding with great care and attention. I am highly grateful for meeting them and hiring them for my wedding. Pick Q Shack!
How is this a 4.5 star establishment??Yeah, the meat was tender, nice smoke flavor, the staff was nice, and service was quick..Outside of the smoke, the meat lacked flavor, the bbq sauce was water thin, and was just "meh" in flavor.The Cole slaw and hush puppies were good,, the baked beans tasted like a can of pintos sitting in a bath of their sauce,, uninspiring..The price was reasonable, but not enough to make it a 4 star,3.5 tops...

This seems to be a franchise, maybe the only franchise, of the original location in Durham (which remains open) and which we frequented when living there. While the Q Shack was never the best barbecue, it was pretty good. This franchise is a pale shadow of it. Pork was moist and tasty, but not enough smoke. Chile-rubbed brisket was tender enough but lacked the original's rub flavor. Onion rings and okra were straight out of the freezer, purchased in bulk. To boot, they tasted as though the fryer oil had not been changed in a week, with the overly dark color and bitter flavor that yields. Mac and cheese was grainy, clearly separated and didn't taste at all of cheese, while the potato salad seemed to have 3x as much mustard as it should. Vinegar sauce was lacking in soul, and the Texas Chipotle sauce was horrid. (Original Q Shack may have changed its sauces too but used to have a pretty good set). Sorry, but just not worth going here again.

This review is overdue. I passed this place a thousand times in route to Hallmark. Figured I'd try them for dinner on a cool Sunday evening, 10-30-22.The gentleman who took my order was patient, answered my questions, & gave me suggestions. I ordered the smoked turkey with fried okra, yams, and two jalapeño deviled eggs. I wished I'd gotten a few more eggs. May stop in again the next time I'm going to Hallmark.
