Honestly it's hard to miss at it this place. The variety of readily available BBQ sauces at the table are a true incentive to come here. The only reason why I didn't give it a full five stars are the portions. If you're spending minimum of $20 for an entree there should be a lot left over to take home.

I grew up on Sonny's. It's sad to see the horrible changes to a once great icon. Too much corporate and too little customer. It was the best bbq place from NC to Fla. Now its just another trying to be fancy sports, food, and liquor house.A once great downhome bbq restaurant.Now just another corporate cookie cutter money grab.

So, went to Sonny’s BBQ for my birthday dinner. I go to Sonny’s once a year for my birthday and get the all you can eat sliced pork. Their sliced pork is amazing. It’s my once a year guilty pleasure. So I look at the menu and don’t see it. I asked the waitress if they still had it and she said “not on the weekends, only during the week”. Huh? What the hell. She said you will have to order the 2 or 3 meat combo and just double up on the sliced pork. I said ok, I’ll need another minute please. She replied sarcastically, ok I’ll be here all night and she stormed off. So she comes back and I order the combo with Sliced pork and the 1/4 smoked chicken. She brings it out and it’s Sliced pork and pulled chicken. I tell it’s wrong and she says “well, that’s what you ordered”. I said no, it’s not, I told you Sliced pork and 1/4 chicken. My wife heard me order and she backed me up on it. So the waitress gets huffy and grabs the plate and stomps off. A few minutes later she brings me the 1/4 chicken and Pulled pork. I said, what the hell, this is not what I ordered. She argues with me “well that is exactly what you just told me you wanted”. At this point I’m pissed. I said get me your manager. A different girl comes over and says I understand that there is a problem. So I explain the whole situation to her and tell her I’m ready to send everything back and you can keep it, we’ll go somewhere else. She says “well let me get another manager”. Clearly she was just another waitress trying to keep her friend from getting in trouble. I ask her why do you need another manager? She says “well, we don’t want you to leave unhappy”. At this point I’m done. I told her, your a manager, I gave you the problem now you own the problem, fix it. She starts humming and hawing and I finally just say take the whole thing away and we’re out of here. I also told her that they need to do a better job training their waitresses. On the way to the door we pass her holding the 2 plates and talking to the “real” manager. He looks at me and says have a good day now. No apologies, nothing. I turn and tell him that he needs to train his waitresses and that he needs to do better and we left. I will never set foot in that Sonny’s again.

Everything I ordered was fantastic. Just look at those ribs.. At a very fair price of under twenty dollars.
Food was awesome when we finally got it. Had to wait pretty long to order then took quite a while to get the food.

My very first, but not my last trip to Sonny's BBQ this week.What an awesome family atmosphere along with delicious pork and chicken. I had a Sonny's Sampler, that included pulled pork, sliced brisket, amazing dry rubbed smoked ribs and a smoked chicken leg quarter. Side items were coleslaw and some awesome pork and beans. And no, I could not eat it all at one sitting. However, I did have a great snack later the same evening. I had no room for dessert, but will try and save room next time. If you've never been to Sonny's BBQ, you're missing out!
