We tried the BBQ Pork, BBQ Turkey, Mac and cheese and cole slaw. The BBQ Pork and the BBQ Turkey were not edible. It is not chopped, chunked, or pulled/shredded. It is finely chopped meat. If you pressed it with a fork it could make a crumbly paste. It is almost the consistency of dry canned corned beef. The flavor was not at all like any BBQ I have ever had in my life. It was sweet, dry, and chewy. I couldn't understand how something so finely chopped could be chewy but it was. The Mac and Cheese was ok. It lacked flavor and tasted dry. The cole slaw was dry and also finely chopped. I can't think of any reason to go back for the BBQ. Maybe something else.. The service was efficient and friendly. It seemed pretty clean. I really wanted them to do well and I am very disappointed. Gave 2 stars one for service and one for cleanliness.

Love this spot! Hadn't been in years with COVID and the recent renovations, but let me tell you...IT'S STILL BANGING!!! Food on POINT, staff on POINT, and the place is looking good from the reno! I had the BBQ plate with Mac and cheese, cabbage, and hush puppies; it was delicious! I had enough BBQ left to bring to work for lunch! This a Durham GEM that deserves our continued support!

I visited this restaurant about 2 weeks ago and I ordered a side of barbecue and to my surprise it was hair in my food the hair was plain and visually clear right in between inside the lid & in the barbecue…I showed it to the cashier & she was in shock ? she was like you got some good eyes…do you still want to order this if so let me get you some from out the back…she goes to the back to get me a pint out of another pan in the back…a older dude with no hair nets/ beard nets nothing on hollering “what!!! Hair!! Oh nahhh we not wasting no food you better dump that barbecue back in that pan…smh then looked out front at me with a stare weird look as if I was causing a problem….I ordered smoked chicken…well I thought it was smoked and I got fried chicken with two little sides for $15… never again….This isn’t the Backyard Barbecue Pit I know…I won’t be returning

I visited for some bbq about 1230pm on 28 March and was told they were out of bbq. At 1230??? After recovering from shock, I ordered some ribs, a large pile of which was available. Unfortunately I ordered okra too, which took about 20 minutes because their fryer was backed up with fries. Finally I heard someone in the kitchen say "ribs and okra" and then put up my container full of food. I waited another 5 minutes, still no food, so I just walked out. Will never go back. Got some bbq down the road at Golden Corral.

What a tragedy… I just went back for the first time under new management and this place definitely is not what it used to be. Everything I ordered was soggy… the mac and cheese was cold. The prices have gone up as well. I may or may not go back again, but this was bad. Money wasted…

Use to be great but now bottom tier. Got fried catfish and shrimp combo. I THREW UP before I could finish the plate. I swear on my life. Hushpuppies and fries were soggyI’ve been a cook in different establishments and they’re either selling outdated food or not properly storing raw meats/preventing cross contamination properly. Will never eat here again. You shouldn’t either if you value your health. All places have to do is cleanup when they know they’re due for EcoLab inspection and they’ll get a decent score

The first major wrong is they have a hand written sign on a half sheet of paper saying prices are different from the prices on the screen rather then fixing the screen prices my meal was a $4+ difference from the screen price…the sides had no pricing on the board. The potato salad was more like regular unseasoned mashed potatoes, the turkey bbq lacked seasoning. The cold-slaw tasted amazing but the cabbage pieces in it was not cut up properly I kept scooping huge pieces of cabbage and the hot sauce…they need a better brand it’s just red dye.

disappointed in the pricing changes from what’s shown on the menu board versus the prices at checkout. (up to a $5 difference).the menu before they reopened gave better understanding to what the place has to offer and prices. i was looking forward to this revisit but immediately got turned off. wont be eating here anymore & i don’t recommend either.
