Lovely food, interesting drinks, compelling art lines the walls, and Cuban music entertains and blends so very well with "everything". Excellent service. Thanks for a lovely First Experience at COPA!

?????While I haven't had the pleasure of dining at Copa Restaurant yet, I can wholeheartedly vouch for the incredible experience it must offer, knowing the lovely owners personally.Working closely with the owners, I've witnessed their dedication, passion, and attention to detail firsthand. Their commitment to excellence shines through in everything they do, from the warm welcome they extend to guests to the exquisite dishes they meticulously craft. The care and love they pour into their restaurant are evident in every aspect, creating an atmosphere that exudes warmth and hospitality. I have no doubt that anyone who walks through the doors of Copa is in for a treat, not just in terms of delicious food but also in the genuine care and attention they'll receive from the owners and staff. If the hospitality and professionalism they demonstrate in their business dealings are any indication, I have every confidence that dining at Copa Restaurant would be an unforgettable experience, leaving guests with cherished memories and a longing to return.I wholeheartedly recommend Copa Restaurant to anyone seeking not just a meal, but an experience that nourishes the soul as much as it does the palate. With owners as wonderful as theirs, it's sure to be an exceptional dining journey.

0 for 2 at Copa. Unfortunately my wife is black and that doesn't work for them. (or possibly they are chronically understaffed. No one is ever in there.) Not trying again.

The ambience is fantastic. The staff is great and service is prompt. The dishes were delicious. Street parking is available. The mocktails are especially good.

Edit based on comment from restaurant- we were absolutely not told we could not eat at the bar? The bartender asked us if we were eating and we said yes before we sat down... other people were eating at the bar. In fact we had a reservation and would not have given up our table for the bar atmosphere if we would have known we couldn’t eat? Please don’t lie. Now we won’t be back at all.Took over 20 min to get drinks at a relatively empty bar. There was an employee who arrived at the same time as us, I guess it was their night off. They were able to receive a drink and two appetizers by the time we got drinks. Super disappointed, this was our valentines’ date night... Not great. We ended up not ordering food bc after 35 min we still hadnt been asked to order.

If you're looking for an AMAZING bartender, check out Paulo!! We watched him rack out more drinks in a crowded bar than two regular bartenders would have trouble with. And on top of that he had spectacular customer service. A++ service and would come back specifically to have him make our drinks.

Wouldn’t know about the food because the bartender explicitly said that we couldn’t have food at the bar. Interesting cocktail menu, but really rude service and should think twice about coming here y’all.

I came here in January. The food all tasted decent but was grossly overpriced. Most of the people at my table left feeling still hungry and generally unimpressed with the food. The service was just okay. I wouldn’t return here with Lunas being right across the street and offering better food, better service, all at a better price point.

Great food, great environment, enjoyable bartender and experience. But boneheaded management. You get a card with your bill stating a 20% gratuity is added automatically (we were two customers) in order to provide the employees with a “living wage”. So basically, its the customers mandate to provide a wage that the business won’t and take my role away to tip what’s fair. As a previous restaurant worker, I almost always tip 30-40%. This practice is totally out of line and disrespectful to the customer. I’m the end the practice backfires for customers like me as I end up tipping less than I would have and now will never return to the establishment.Edit: To add insult to injury, this entitled business owner now has the gall to lecture me about their business management decisions. If you want to pay what you consider a "living wage", then do that, build it into the prices, like every other honest restaurant, but to ambush a customer, after the fact, is deceptive and disrespectful to the clientele. This isn't social media, this is the real world, take your high-horse finger waving elsewhere.

I had the pleasure of dining here December 1, 2023. Reservations are reccommended! Wonderful restaraunt in the heart of downtown Durham with a great food and bar menu! There were so many choices of food as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails that we had a very hard time maeking decisions. The charcuterie board and the pork belly were scrumptious. I also had a mule cocktail that was amazing. Try this place. You will not regret it!

I was expecting more. When we arrived, we ordered two cocktails, and a few minutes later, we ordered a few tapas. The tapas came out in a few minutes, but the cocktails took nearly 30 minutes. We were dining on the early side, and the place was sparsely seated at the time we ordered. In addition to our less-than-organized service, the food, for the most part, was underwhelming. The tapas were good, but just good. Both entrees we ordered were under-seasoned and mediocre. The duck confit tacos were adequate but not memorable. The beef mole was terrible. It was served as a soup and so heavily unbalanced in the direction of cocoa that it was more reminiscent of hot chocolate than beef mole. It lacked in flavor virtually any other balancing spices, and most notably it lacked salt or any hint of savory unctuousness.
