I visited this place on Saturday night, arriving at 8:26 pm. Shockingly, the hostess informed us that everything shuts down at 8:30 pm. But hold on, we were there before the supposed closing time of 9 pm. If you're going to shut down operations at 8:30, then just close the doors at 8:30. It's as simple as that.

Great food and good service. Recommend using Yelp to get your name on the list before arriving.

It is one of the worst restaurants in terms of dealing and service. I recommended food online and the food was not prepared for more than an hour, and when I came to the restaurant I found that they had even started preparing the food.

Chicken cutlets are way better than chicken legs! Chicken legs are not worth the $$, very small, over cooked and dry. Waitresses ate polite and your order arrives to the table relatively fast.

I used to love coming here I placed my order at 11:50 AM and had an estimated pick-up time of 12:25. I waited in there for 45 minutes. The waitress kept checking on my order but would be gone for long periods of time assisting others. They only seemed to prioritize dine-in customers as they were seated and served way before me. The manager was very rude to other customers waiting to be seated saying they would not be served unless they left the lobby. When they left the building and new people came in they were seated almost immediately. The manager asked me to move to the side so he could check on my order but he never did. The waiter went to the back to get other take-out customers' orders. After 50 minutes, I finally received my order, or so I thought. When I got to the car, I checked the order and it was not even close to what I ordered. Luckily, I was still in downtown. I went back the waiter took back the food. I continued waiting then she served food to the dine-in customers. Finally, I went up to the back to ask if I could just cancel the order. But they were packing up my order. After 1 hour of waiting I received my correct order at 1:30. I understand they may have been busy but having had a similar experience back in November, I may not be coming back for a very long time.

Don't know if it's something to do with me, but this was my first try at shrimp and grits and chicken and waffle. I had the worst diahrea and vomiting the whole night. Food tasted ok but the after effect was horrible. Please be careful and check if any safety issues occurred on the 6/4/23. Our server issac was amazing and really helpful.

This was a cute spot, the ambience was nice.Chicken appeared to be overcooked. As I looked around the restaurant at other folks chicken theirs appeared to be overcooked as well. Not sure if it's the batter they use or what. The collard greens were good. Not sure why I assumed the pickles were fried, that was my fault for not getting clarification but they were regular pickles with a seasoning on them. They were just blah nothing special about them. Service was pretty slow. It seems that they were short staffed.

Well, the wait was too long. Chicken legs were undercooked, and then they brought me another plate, and there were feathers on all three chicken legs. SMH. The mac and cheese was okay. Waitress was

Pros: 1) Dame's has the best chicken and waffles I've ever tasted. 2) Cocktails are fabulous. 3) Mac and cheese is well seasoned.Con: The service is quite lackluster. After we were seated, we waited for over thirty minutes for our server to appear and take our order. In the meantime, the two parties who were seated after us already had their servers giving them their drinks and placing their orders. For context, we made sure to come after the Saturday brunch rush around 1:30 pm. About 1/3 of the restaurant had open tables so it was not terribly busy. Not sure if this is something a lot of other folks have experienced.Overall, the food outweighed the wait time. I would still come back again, but I would plan extra time to account for all of the waiting.

The food is amazing. The waffle with vanilla almond butter and Calypso drizzle are a breathtaking combination. The chicken cutlet is fried and seasoned to perfection. The food is worth the price of admission, the customer service, not so much. There was an actual issue with sending back a side order of mac n’ cheese. If an item is not to the standard of the customer, it is the establishment’s obligation to make sure the customer is taken care of without apprehension. The manager begrudgingly brings over a replacement side dish, and this ruined the experience, as he chastises us claiming “the recipe has been the same for 14 years.”

Was very excited to visit this restaurant after the hearing the hype for it around Durham. My partner and I got there shortly after opening and were seated quickly and our server was attentive. He mentioned a sandwich special to us that sounded fab and my partner decided to order it. When our food arrived, a completely different sandwich and side was placed in front of them and they were told that the kitchen was actually not serving the side they previously said they would with the sandwich. My partner did not even realize this was not the sandwich they ordered until a bite or two (it left much to be desired, they did not like it..). Eventually Dame himself came over and let us know we were told the incorrect sandwich special and offered to provide my partner with the side actually wanted which was very kind, but no one offered to replace this sandwich or entree which was completely different from what they ordered.(it was very spicy and my partner cannot stomach spicy food, so it was mostly left uneaten. If my partner actually knew what the sandwich actually was they would have not have ordered it at all). Overall upset to have had to pay for food that we did not order or even enjoy.

Crispy chicken, large waffles, reasonable prices, nice staff. There is really nothing to complain about this place. The food menu is 1 page, but packs a lot of variations of waffles and other breakfast / lunch food. The interior is nice and clean with a bar in the middle. Next time I go I'd try the cinnamon waffle.Parking: Free parking available at the baseball field <5min away or paid street parking closer by. There is also parking garage maybe 7 min away if all the closer parking spots are taken.
