We went brunch time on a week day and there was a wait. Nothing long, enough to know it's a popular spot. Food was hot, fast, and good! I am not a breakfast fan so having full menu all day is always a win for my family. Will return when we are in the area.

Popped in because it was close to Duke Hospital. Pleasantly surpised! Super clean! Service & Crew working together and being nice to each other and everyone coming through the door. Hamburger and Onion Rings were mighty tasty! Nice!Vegetarian options: Nice salad options

I've been going to Elmo's for several years, and I have never had a bad experience. The food is delicious, the servers are always friendly and helpful, and the place itself is quaint and lovely. It does get very busy with a wait on the weekends; if you can, go during the week to experience it without a wait-time. But, also, it is worth the wait.

Omelette was delicious and something different with being black beans in i t, etc. The waitress was very nice Jessie and very professional. However, the soy sausage I tried because I thought it was made with soy sauce like you put on mac and cheese. But it's made from soybeans, yuck!

We’re in town for a family weekend and wanted to visit the highly recommended Elmo’s Diner. The 30 min wait suggested the reviews were accurate. The vibe was vintage and adorable. Our server Mary was thorough and friendly. Sadly, the food was not good at all. Eggs weren’t cooked as requested, food was not warm/hot OR fresh and sides lacked flavor. For the fact that so many people were in and out, there should be no cold or old food being served!! We actually had to send back sausage patties because they were inedible. Sadly, our food was not worth the wait & we won’t be back.

Great diner with lots of savory and sweet vegetarian options. Can get crowded, but wait time usually isn't too bad if you're willing to sit at the counter.

I loved Elmo's! Clearly a super popular brunch spot on 9th street. We had to wait for a bit but the atmosphere was so nice and service was fast when we did get a table. The cheesy grits and pancakes (both brunch specials) were clearly the highlights of the meal. They were super generous with the apple cranberry granola topping on the pancakes and it was delicious. We also ordered a veggie sausage (not pictured) with the pancakes that they make in house and it was so good. Definitely try it if you're looking for a vegetarian option. The omelet was just okay- the veggies were a little undercooked and it was undersalted, but overall this was a great spot for brunch.

It’s a fine diner for NC, but…It can’t compare to the diners of the Northeast, from Boston to Baltimore.Menu is somewhat limited but the flavors are all good. Now if I only could get a good RARE roast beef sandwich with horseradish, I would forgive them for everything else.

Cute little diner in Durham. I got the Chilaquiles and they were fantastic! They are listed as spicy but they just had a tiny kick.Parking: Free parking but it may be difficult to get parking depending on what time you go.

Great place for breakfast. I had the stuffed French toast. It was awesome. My wife had the shrimp and grits. It was equally as awesome. The young lady that was our server was spot on we didn't have to ask for anything and I never saw the bottom of my coffee cup.
