Food is good, but the whole wait in line for an hour for food is ridiculous.

This was a great place. Definitely the German beer garden feel. We had a cheese platter and I ordered the schwein schnitzel with the red cabbage side. Really nice. Haven’t had a schnitzel in forever and this was worth it. Portion sizes were good - quality and quantity. I also got the Paulaner beer. Perfect compliment, rich beer. I recommend this place.

WOW!!! I think if I were in Munchen I might go here instead of The Hofbrauhaus. It's that interesting and good. Vibes of Oktoberfest are coming through! Let's go Guglhupf! Bringing the German experience here to Durham. Loving it... And I haven't even made it to the incredible deserts. Best place I've found in a long time. A gem.

Just simple. I needed decent breakfast, I got it! The Farmer’s omelette is a great deal. The staff were helpful. There’s also a bakery within the restaurant & one can get stuff there to eat or to go.

I dropped by the bakery on a Friday around lunchtime. The parking lot and restaurant were very busy, but the bakery had easy access and very friendly customer service. I bought the butter croissant and cinnamon roll, and oh my, what a treat!!! The croissant was buttery and delicious, and the cinnamon roll was perfection. I will definitely be going back whenever I'm in Durham. I can't wait to try the restaurant!

Updating: Excellent bakery, great menu. So popular that it suffers from that popularity with long lines and difficult parking, especially on weekends.

Really nice brunch spot with a great atmosphere and vibe. Tons of outdoor seating for large groups and smaller tables inside. An amazing bakery attached with great coffee as well. Loved the pork schnitzel! Breakfast items also looked delicious. This is a perfect place for an informal get together or hangout with family members or friends. Ordering is done at a counter and food is brought to you, but there is not table service. Dog friendly. It’s the type of place you want to go have a beer and some schnitzel at after mowing the grass.

I don't know why this restaurant has so many good reviews, I went here with high spectations and left disappointed. I'm gonna describe my whole experience. First when I arrived the restaurant was full of people so there weren't any parking spots available and I had to leave the parking lot and come back in again, then wait for someone to leave so I can take their parking space. When I got in, there was no host to explain to me their setting, so I followed a waiter so he could explain to me how the restaurant works, which was, first ordering through a window in the patio, and then they'll give me a number and I would be served wherever I decided to seat. I went ahead and did a long line to order, but it was fine, the line was long but fairly fast. Before seating I decided to go to the restroom, and it looked like a dungeon. The faucet in the sink was leaking so they put a lot of rags to prevent it to leak, the floor was full of toilet paper and the appearance of the bathroom looked old and wornout. After that I went to seat and the indoor part of the restaurant looked kinda worn out and old too (just like an old bar that the management decided to not spend money in renovations). So I seated and I ordered the shitake mushroom omelette that came with fruit and 2 old pieces of "baguette" and I say old because they were hard as a rock, I also ordered a cappuccino and a mini guglhupf. The only good thing was the mini guglhupf, my omelette had a piece of eggshell and the already mentioned 2 pieces of old baguette, the fruit was ok (its just fruit) and the cappuccino was mediocre too. I give it 2 stars because the food wasn't completely repulsive and the waiters were nice even though there was no host to explain to me the restaurant setting, but honestly I would have saved the 25 dollars I spent, and cook at home for the quality of the food.

We drove over 45 minutes (with a toddler!) to check this place out after just passing by in the area one day and saw it covered over. We thought, “that place must be good, we should try it sometime”. So yesterday (Good Friday) we figured, “why not?” and drove to Durham from the North Raleigh area to give it a try for brunch. The atmosphere was very laid back and seemed to be family/kid friendly. We didn’t know that you order at a counter, but it went surprisingly quickly. A gentleman came by our table after we sat down and explained where things were and asked if we needed anything. Our drinks and food came out quickly. I got a Vietnamese iced latte and it was good (if you’re familiar with Vietnamese coffee, don’t expect it to taste as strong as the normal coffee, but it was still alright) and then an omelette. It was okay — nothing super special, but it wasn’t bad. My husband would say the same for the pancakes he ordered. We chose to sit outside because the weather was decent and so our toddler could walk around a little bit while we waited. It is a little pricey for “just” brunch and no table service, so just be prepared to pay $25+ for a drink and meal per person (more if you get more than one drink and a dessert). However, the fact it was so laid back and family friendly was a huge plus for us. Not sure we’d make a special trip over for it again, but would be willing to try again if we’re in the area and the weather is nice enough to sit outside.
