I have been here twice - and take out one. Tonight we ordered one dish and walked out after a few bits is was soooo tired, soooo stale, soooo lifeless. I can't imagine how anyone could rate is above 1 star. The food tastes stale. The seasonings are dead - like the dishes were cooked months ago, frozen, and reheated 3 days ago and served tonight. A McDonald's has fresher-tasting food.

I definitely recommend this spot. I poured through the reviews while looking for: Chinese restaurants near me. This was the highest rated Chinese food restaurant in the area and it did not disappoint. The front staff was very helpful and friendly. The food was hot, fresh, and tasty. I didn't know it was a sit down restaurant, but I would sit there and eat based on my initial reaction with the staff.

Solid 4 star, however after getting the Shrimp Toast it was elevated to a 5 because this place provided authentic Shrimp Toast with actual big Shrimp! Wifey did a random search on this place and it came on our radar as we were visiting Durham and family. With no references, we took the gamble with family which everyone loved it, so Shanghai will definitely be on our dining list going forward. The ambiance, service and food were excellent! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

We ordered salt and pepper shrimp and sesame beef. Quality and flavor were excellent, portions generous and pricing very fair. This was our first trip and we will return!

The restaurant from the curb has no appeal, but the inside has that TV look of Shanghai (I've never been there to know for sure). The whole ambiance was good. The service was very professional. I ordered the Cumin Lamb, with fried rice (which only comes with eggs in it but is at least brown without tasting very fried), also some fried wonton noodles, and a vegetable egg roll (the egg roll, must have lost some weight because it looked more like a spring roll to me); however, it was tasteful. The Cumin Lamb was awesome and spicy! I'd definitely order that again one day. My party ordered a fried squid dish, that was ok, says they would only get it again if they were eating in the restaurant. Each dish (not egg rolls) were healthy portions of meat and vegetables. We also ordered some fried chicken (just in case...), that was fried to perfection, and tasty. Overall, I'd recommend this place to be on your list of places to go.

I’m very disappointed with one of the staff this restaurant, I don’t know what his position but he stands in front desk( he looks like Latin/Mexican) maybe manager or whoever, his attitude was extremely rude! He was shouting at me when I called one of their staff and said I should’ve called him for order the menu. Excuse me, how do I know whom I have to call for order?i just waived one of their staff and he was coming to me.what’s wrong with you sir? You are so rude!
