They catered the Salvation Army shelter. Pulled pork and two sides. Only thing is… They didn’t cater the sauce! Good thing I keep that mf thang on me. Nevertheless, I would’ve given five stars, but do to the nonconsensual strangulation it’s gonna be three from me.

The resturant was nearly empty on a Saturday evening should have been the first red flag. We ordered the combo platter with ribs, brisket, and bbq. They were out of coleslaw, so we got the brocolli slaw and baked beans. The bbq was just ok. I could name 10 restuarants that do NC style bbq better. The ribs were simply salty. When I have ribs I expect to have spicy, savory, and sweet notes to the rub before adding the sauce, but there was none. However, they were tender. The brisket was overly fatty and an odd cut. It didnt seem that any of the food was fresh and had a gray color to it. The cornbread was the highlight of the plate. I do also want to mention for the price, the portion was extremely small. I was expecting a platter, but it was packed in a lunch style to go clamshell plate. Since moving to Fayetteville, I try to eat local to support home-grown businesses, but I will not be returning. I had high hopes with the reviews, but ended up hungry and super disappointed.

if you have never been to southern colals restreuant in fayettville nc before highly reccomend that you check it out because the food in my opnion is amazing.one thing that i have to say about the atmposhere of the place is that it is very welcoming and inviting when you frist walk into the reastreuant and overall its just a wonder place to enjoy lunch.one thing that i have to say about the service is that they are very welcoming to all of the guest and willing to answer any questions that you may have on what to choose from the menu and overall they are very postive.i am going to tell my friends and family about this place so that they can check it out and hopefully have a wonderfull exprience like me and my dad did when we went there to have lunch.i will deffiently be returning to this place again soon it is 100 percent my favorite place to eat in fayettville NC deffiently will be returning in the near furture going to reccomend this place to anyone that has never been there before its worth a visit if you have nerver been there before.one thing that i have to say about the location is that you are right accross the street from two places to eat and right next store is a place called Burney's sweet and more and alose in the same place a few doors down is a antique store called empty nester this place by far has exceeded my expecations for a barbecauce place in fayettville NC will be returning in the near furture to this place again.

Always look for local when on the road. This was above average for pulled pork but the chicken was dry and the ribs were cut slightly off and had small bone shards on every rib so careful eating replaced

Loved everything about this restaurant! Even that it was next door to a great sweet treat location. The employees were very nice as well as the customers. Truly, it made the atmosphere feel like you were in your own dining room having dinner and a conversation!

Was craving smoked ribs. I drove 35 minutes to get from Raeford to Fayetteville. I took carryout. When I got home the food was still warm. I got the spicy sauce for the ribs. The food was delicious. The smell on the way home was mouth watering to say the least. I plan to take my family to eat-in at this restaurant in the near future. It was worth the trip.

We chose Southern Coals to cater our daughters wedding reception in September. They were recommended by a friend & we were not disappointed. The only downfall was we had to arrange to have the food picked up because they were already booked to cater another event. We chose the pulled pork, chicken, mac & cheese, baked beans, corn bread & banana pudding. We also ordered pies for the desserts because my daughter & her husband are not cake people. We had guests complimenting the food & desserts all evening. The price point was fair & correspondence with the catering manager ran smoothly. Highly recommend & will be using again if we need catering in the future.

Love the ribs and the potato salad its beautiful. Not a fan of fall of the bone anything. Bbq needs a bite and texture, totally here at southern coals! They dry rub but it's not over the top and it doesn't get in the way of the pork flavor! My go to when I'm in the area.
