Food was always awful and cold! It was always under or overcooked never cooked the way I would ask !! If we went for breakfast I would always ask for the bacon to be soft not hard and crunchy or dark where it crumbles when you pick it up , sausage patties were old and sticky to the touch like glue which means they should have been thrown away because they wasn't good anymore if they're already dark gray with ink like color to them and they never got the order right even if it's written down!!! Definitely prejudice towards black people and if we had 3 meals on one ticket we would be charged for the one ticket and each meal individually afterwards where it would be $50-60 for three breakfast plates,2 -2eggs bacon and grits with cheese and 1-2eggs and sausage with grits add cheese first ticket was $17.80 but I was charged more when the owner heard the lady telling me the original price he took over and re rung everything up !!! $58.80 for three regular plates nothing extra we even had water!!!

Out dated atmosphere (which can be nice). Service and food were excellent. Glad I stopped there (after hiking Crowders lol).

Food was passable, it was hot and cooked ok. Service was slow right out of the gate. Took too long for initial table visit. Only one waitress and she was in no hurry. Coffee wasn't bad but no refill was offered. Atmosphere was stark and dark. But it was cold with a draft. Biggest mistake I made was going to the toilet. Dirty, nasty and unkempt! You don't want to go there..... Lots better options available. Firestone, Victoria's in Clover any many more chains that are clean and have actual staff to take care of you.

People were friendly, I can say that at least. Food was absolutely terrible. Ordered the steak, rare, informed after the fact it can't be cooked rare, it had a sour taste to it. Grilled pork chops were decent. Mac and cheese was watery. Still paid $50 to not be able to eat most of the food. Good thing the waitress said they are closing at the end of the month.

Horrible to their employees. Food is gross. Daysi needs a reality check, and an attitude adjustment!

They’re not welcoming of colored folk here……. In my opinion and from my very hostile experience

Stopped in for breakfast and there were zero guests in house. There were 3 of us. Food was underwhelming, cold and part of order was incorrect. Our breakfast was almost $50 for 3 people... nothing crazy ordered. Gastonia really needs a great breakfast spot!

I did like this place. Today as usual a coworker and myself placed an online order. I go pick it up get back to work to only find that I had raw hash browns and I don’t know what was going on with the disgusting looking bacon. I called back and the girl “Angel” she said was her name told me that I should have put in the comments I wanted my hash browns well done. Continued to try to explain that I’ve never put well done and I have never received raw hash browns. Asked for a manager and there’s not one. She told me Daisy is the owner and was not there. Called back this afternoon and got the same response from “Daisy” which sounded like a 16 year old child. I don’t think myself or coworkers will be going back.

I've had breakfast there several times and it was great. Today, got a burger and fries for a company guest and he said "wouldn't recommend it again, edible but not excitable. Burger was mediocre and fries didn't have any salt". Company owner said "I got a vegetable plate and potato salad and I couldn't finish it. No taste and it smelled terrible. And, they forgot the corn bread I ordered" The Owners wife, who picked it up said "the whole place smelled awful, I don't know what it was..."

In todays experience 5 stars is uncommon but Union Diner Restaurant is well worth it. The service was fabulous from the moment we walked in up to the tine we left - the waitress (who is a relator helping out a friend) to the cook to the gentleman busing tables - just awesome. The food? Really good and very reasonably priced. Wanted to go back for dinner but they are only open for breakfast and lunch. We’ll be going ba though! Highly recommend

I would usually NEVER go out of my way to leave a negative review but this place really deserved it. I ordered the deuces which had a little of everything. French toast (extremely soggy as if it was just drenched in egg and not really cooked much) eggs (paid for an extra one that was 2.95 but still looked like I only got 2 eggs) sausage (burnt at both ends as if they were nuked in a microwave) and bacon (so terribly dry and crispy you would think they were meant as treats for dogs) also got a 3 dollar tiny bottle of orange juice. My meal was 17 dollars which is understandable with the price of everything going up but definitely not for this place. I would've been better off with a McDonald's breakfast.
