“Something of an expert on donuts and fried pastries in my 60+ years in the South, North, Midwest, and overseas on different continents. Still haven’t quite recovered from the culture shock of that first Dunkin Donuts leaden lump in Boston after growing up on Krispy Kreme’s and home-fried wonders by great cooks. I eventually came to appreciate a bit of heft in a donut, and was happy enough with Midwestern small shop donuts. But I have never, ever eaten as perfect a donut as the ones at NC Jelly Donuts. They are twice the size and a fraction of the price of a Krispy Kreme, while having that brand’s lightness with just a touch more body and just the right level of sweet. Krispy Kreme’s need emergency resuscitation in a microwave after 24 hours, but these somehow stay edible far longer. What more can I say? They are donut magic, and a small business, and I love the mix of people who line up there. Greedy politicians and propagandists keep trying to divide us and make us hate each other, but appreciating a great donut in small talk can break down just about every barrier. Give it a try, and order twice as many donuts as you think you want, and if any are left over, share the goodness with people who need some donut perfection in their lives!“

“I got 6 different things to try and every single thing I got was AMAZING. .... It took me a bit to finish everything and even several days later it still tasted amazing and fresh. Can't wait to try EVERY SINGLE THING. ...I think the person that helped us is named Summer, so kind and knowledgeable : )“

“I came to Pul’s today because they have the best donuts in the world. The problem, though, is I got here at 12 today and there isn’t a single donut for sale because they sold out and aren’t making any more even though they are open for 2 more hours. I get that most of the specialty donuts would be gone by now but not to have any is ridiculous. This place was the place I grew up with and my father would always bring home their glazed donuts. I think they still have the high quality that I came to love but the service has definitely gone downhill. They should close at noon if they don’t plan on making any more of their product to sell. Oh, and as if to make up for it, I was told that they had spicy donut holes they would sell me. No thanks.“
