We have been going to Captains Galley for about 13 years or so and the food has always been pretty good with a few exceptions. They have the best hush puppies in the area and the portions have always been good. We have always thought it was a good value for the money all things considered until COVID. Prices have increased to the point that it's not a really a deal anymore. Unfortunately it has become a place that we will visit only on a rare occasion.
I got the 3 item combo. Filet of perch (salt and peppered), calabash shrimp and deviled crab along with fries and coleslaw. They give you a bowl of hush puppies before your meal. Food was great and hot. Staff was very friendly. ?
Since I don't eat seafood, I normally order the chicken strips, this is the second time I ordered them, and they were hard, and the fries were cold. My husband had ordered the salt and pepper catfish, he said that it was ok and his fries were cold also. The hushpuppies were cold and stuck together also, those are normally very good. The only reason we keep going there is because the family likes it.
Had early Saturday night dinner there. The atmosphere was quiet and hardly any patrons. Even so, they sat my Mom and I in a booth directly next to the stacked up children's high chairs nook. It was not crowded at all, so wondering why we got what is probably the worst table in the house. The food came very quickly and was undercooked. We are nice ladies, so we didn't complain. 3 stars at best.
