The bathroom was spotless, the service was friendly, the food was delicious and ready quickly! Meals for two was $18, very affordable and huge portions!Absolutely stop here if you have the chance!

This restaurant is the real hidden gem of Hiddenite, NC! Some friends and I were visiting Emerald Hollow mine, and decided to forgo the cult deli, leaving this as the only other place open for lunch at 3pm.The table salsa was one of the best I've had anywhere - bursting with flavor and a little kick. We tried the guacamole - perfection. The horchata was sublime. I ordered carnitas in verde sauce, which was served with corn tortillas that *had* to be homemade, they were so good. One friend tried the sopes and the other tried the tacos - everything tasted like someone's amazing grandma was running the kitchen. Everything was fresh and as authentic as possible.The service was great, the staff friendly, and the bathrooms were clean. The atmosphere was somewhat lacking - the building was old, tables were cheap and worn, and the interior decor was minimal. Every inch was spotlessly clean. I believe the restaurant mostly provides takeout, and I don't usually go to a taqueria for the atmosphere in any case, so while it rates a "3" on atmosphere for me, that is an utterly unimportant factor in this case.I will absolutely return (4+ hours from my home) just for the food, and I've already been spreading my recommendation to anyone that is likely to travel anywhere near there.
We were looking for something different to eat and found this place on Yelp. We never imagined that an authentic Mexican restaurant was this close to us!! They brought the chips and salsa to our table and Ol My Heavens!!! The chips are amazing!! The best chips I've ever had!! And salsa is great!! On our first visit My wife got fajitas and I got tacos. She said they were the best fajitas she had ever had and the tacos were just as good! Our second visit we got the Parrillada Mexicana for two!! And again!!! The food is magnificent!! Loved the tortillas. I personally think they are made on the premises. The service is good considering that it seems to be a family run restaurant and most of the time there are two cooking and one waiting tables and checking out. It does take a little longer than most Mexican restaurants for you're food to arrive, but as far as I'm concerned good food is worth the wait and this is better than 90% of most restaurants. The restaurant has some Hispanic decor, but I personally think they are more concerned with the quality and taste of the food. And it's top notch. If you want an authentic Mexican meal this is the place to go!! Definitely a hidden gem in the gem town of Hiddenite!!

Food seems reasonably authentic. Employees were nice. There was no one there but us and they only have bottled drinks in a cooler. The salsa we were given with our tortillas seemed super fresh but i think the tortillas werent made on location.
