Awesome food!! You want a good combo get their BBQ with baked beans and mac&cheese, this was phenomenal!! Would recommend all to try this place!!!

The pork was the definition of perfection. We all know when something smells really good but it's a disappointment. Well the pork smelled good but still didn't prepare you for how incredible it was going to taste. I've never had pork barbecue legitimately melt apart as if it had been cooked in a crockpot. Mac and cheese with penne pasta needs to be a standard, too. That was insanely good!I generally don't like beans. I had seconds of the beans. The whole spread was that good.

Now. We miss the days this was open like a traditional restaurant.Still recommend checking out gatewood. It’s a neat place. Plenty of parking, neat layout with tables all over, excellent food. What they did with renovations is fantastic.Hoping they open up as a typical restaurant again. Sitting at the bar or with the back door open was great.

A bad experience; I won't return. I waited in line for 55 minutes before placing my order and observed many people leave because the line wasn't moving. Flys were buzzing all over kitchen and eating area, and I wasn't sure I should have eaten here. No child high chairs available at all. It was extremely noisy inside. Workers didn't appear to be in a good mood, looked frustrated, and the order taker wasn't efficient. Now the food review; pull pork and red eye grits tasted great and serving sizes were good, but that was it. Really oversalted fries, and the mac and cheese wasn't our cup of tea. We sampled a few our friends sides and those all tasted pretty mediocre.

We hosted my daughter’s rehearsal dinner for her wedding at the House at Gatewood. Everything was phenomenal! The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was perfect. We really appreciated the ease with which Ron and all his folks made this happen.?

BEWARE, FUTURE BRIDES! I usually don't write reviews, but I want to inform others about The House at Gatewood's unprofessional and insensitive owners.Earlier last year, I met the owners, Jen and Ron, to discuss having my dream wedding at their restaurant in December. As Covid cases worsened, we decided to keep the original date in December but keep the ceremony small and push our big wedding to November 2022. Jen and Ron agreed, so we proceeded to put a deposit down to save the date. Well, to put it bluntly, your deposit is entirely useless. To further elaborate, Jen won't contact you as the bride. Instead, she texted, not called, my mom in March to deliver this ridiculous news: "We need to discuss the date in November. Unfortunately, we can no longer do 11/5 or that weekend. We can either change the date or give your deposit back. However, the restaurant won't be useable that weekend."First and foremost, have the decency to call me, the bride, about this news, not my mom. Secondly, please explain how you define "won't be useable" when it comes to a venue? When we asked Jen to explain what "won't be useable" meant, she wouldn't respond. We have concluded they probably had another bride or event that wanted their space for the entire weekend. Jen decided to be selfish and take the event with more dollar signs than consider someone's feelings. So here I am today with no wedding and my dream dress hanging in my closet and facing the expenses of my photographer, DJ, and florist. My advice to Jen and Ron is to think about who you hurt, especially as business owners. You have kids of your own, so I hope they don't have to face the heartbreak I'm dealing with today. Now when I think about it, you NEVER even apologized. Future brides leave it to the professional because the owners are far from professional and unsympathetic.

This an exceptional venue to hold any event!! My retirement party was recently hosted here and I could have not ask for a better place. Owner and chef Ron went out of his way to take care of my dietary needs and prepared an awesome meal for not just me but for everyone attending. Thank you Ron, and to your wonderful staff for making my retirement party such a memorable event!!!!

Perfect place for events. Big or small. The indoor/outdoor combination works so well. The place is beautiful. The owners are kind, caring, personable and will go out of their way to make sure everyone is happy! Their staff is great. The place is very clean, they have a full bar, the menu is gourmet and is just 15 from down town Durham. Thank you Ron and Jen!!

This is a very nice venue, but is no longer open to individual diners. It's only available for parties, special events and supper clubs.

Maaaaaan listen!! I had my wedding rehearsal dinner there on Dec 3rd! The space alone is AMAZING and the food complimented the ambiance! The hors d'oeuvres... EXCELLENT! The entree's... EXCELLENT! The dessert...made you wanna slap ya mama! I'm a devout foodie and it takes a lot to impress me! Two thumbs up ???? and a third if I had one! ??? The owner was quite awesome as well...thank you again!! ✌?

I got a brisket for my sons 30th birthday! It was absolutely fabulous. We have eaten it twice since his birthday and it’s as good as it was the first night. I’ll definitely be getting another one for our next special occasion! Thanks so much Ron!
