Went on Saturday afternoon for a wine tasting. The building is very unique. The bartender that did the tasting was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. That's the reason for the 4 star review. They have a large variety of different styles of wine. The wines we tried were good but we had better at other wineries in the area.

I wanted to like this place. The place was poorly maintained somewhat dirty. The food was institutional and home cooked tasting. The servers were nice, but inefficient. The management needs training on how to run a restaurant. Just don’t go.

In years past we have eaten at The Country Squire and had a delicious meal and had good waitresses...today was a totally different experience. There were no napkins and had to ask twice for napkins. The waitress was pleasant BUT was mostly absent. The food was served on a COLD cast ironskillet so I'm not sure what it's function was. The rolls were cold and the food was luke warm. We were so disappointed ! We had to "find" the waitress to get our ticket and our glasses were never refilled.

Me & the wife went here for our 11th year wedding anniversary. Nice quiet candlelit searing area. Why is the entire dining room black? My wife had the Korean beef, while I had the prime rib.. My prime rib had allot of fat but was still tasty.

I hated that we had the experience that we had here. The place is very neat and has an authentic Scottish feel in the inside. The wine tasting was fun as well… however when it came time to eat it was a mess. Three different servers came up to us because no one seemed to know who’s table it was. When the server (never introduced her name) finally took over, we placed our order 30 minutes after being seated. Another 30 minutes passed and she came back and said she had just forgot to put in the appetizer only. It eventually came out for our friends who ordered it but we were still waiting for our food. Another table next to us had came after us, ordered, ate, and left with the same server. It was another 30 minutes before she came back and said SHE FORGOT TO PUT OUR ORDER IN and they were just now starting to make it. A whole hour and a half of us sitting there, you’d think you’d wonder why your table didn’t have their food well before that. And how do you put our appetizer in on the same page that had our orders but not put the order in?! No drink refills in the process either. At that point, we were seated at 6:30 and it was well past 8 I had shared that I was frustrated with our experience and lack of communication and honesty and She had the audacity to roll her eyes and catch an attitude about it!!! I might of stayed and ate (finally) had it not been for her attitude over her mistake. Long story short we drove an hour away to double date for Valentine’s Day and ended up leaving hungry.. sad experienceI will add when we talked to the owner about it I could tell she was heartbroken with our experience. She took our address’s down and thanked us. Honestly with her care I’d give it another try with a different server

I wouldn’t know if the winery / motel was good or bad. I made reservations 4 months in advance, but because their reservation system is paper-based, my reservation got “lost in the shuffle” (literally). I’m just glad I had the sense to call prior to confirm my (non) reservation.

We went here for my birthday and stayed at the Inn. Let me describe the package. 1 night King bed, tickets to the local museum, wine tasting, 1 bottle of wine to take home, $40 off of your dinner, and 2 glasses of wine included with dinner for $150 -- WHAT A STEAL Let's start with the accommodations. This place was built in the 60's and has a rustic Scottish vibe. I didn't take any pictures of our room but it was wonderful. In a wooded area with the most gorgeous view. The staff were amazing. So friendly and hands on. The owner was there and gave us a tour and the history of the business. You could really see how much of her heart she has poured into this place. They made a point to make every guest feel like family, and we definitely did. The wine tasting was great and I was VERY impressed with their selection. All of the wine was outstanding. We chose a blackberry wine for our bottle and blueberry wine for our 2 glasses with dinner. The dinner was such an experience. I ordered a Caesar salad which they made right at the table. It had real anchovies and egg in it. A lot of places will use artificial or substitute to cut on cost. She cooked the egg and anchovies with lemon juice which was so super cool to watch. I wasn't sure what to order so they cooked some sample portions and allowed me to try. I decided on the Korean beef and turkey and OMG! It was melt in your mouth fantastic. Since it was my birthday they finished the meal with pound cake and ice cream that was delicious. The next day we came back to the restaurant for Sunday brunch. Since we had such a heavy dinner I wanted a light lunch. I got the chicken salad and fruit platter and it was exactly what I was looking for. We have decided we will try to make coming to the Country Squire a yearly tradition. This is a small business that deserves all of the support and love.

This past Sunday, my lady and I had lunch at the Squire. I had not been there but my lady had many years ago. We had the Sunday lunch special and it was terrific. Our server, Audra was very gracious. When I mentioned it was my lady's & my 5th date, she lit our table candle and thanked us for coming. The atmosphere was special with an old world romantic setting. We will definitely return for more dates.

We went to the wine tasting and enjoyed the flavor of many of the wines. We ate dinner and the food was really good. I bought four bottles of wine and my daughter bought six bottles. Every bottle of wine we purchased tasted watered down and nothing like the wines we enjoyed during the tasting. We were very disappointed. We live out of state and too far to go back to complain.

My family and I went here recently for a wine tasting and we had a great experience. We were greeted with such great customer service. We also learned a lot about their wines during the tasting. Will definitely return again soon to try out their dinner next time.

One of the best local secrets in the state the food is always amazing stuffed potato is a true Irish dish all the food is always wonderful. There wine is top shelf with out the price and the vintage package for special occasion is a deal u can't beat, king room cozy with the old style charm but clean and modern enough you don't feel like your in the dark ages. Complimentary bottle of whine for your room and 2 glasses at dinner with a 40 off voucher towards tour dinner bill not to big on museums but two access tickets to a local museum all included in the package for 150 plus tax. Will defiantly continue to go for special occasions. Wonderful staff waitstaff works hard to accommodate and there Somalia is a wonderful person showed up late and offered to give us a tasting even after hours then proceeded to assist restaurant staff with customers. Mrs iris the owner is there every day even cooks when the need arises. Be patient and you will have an amazing experience.

It's a nice Duplin County tourist destination, locals enjoy it as well as their winery. I love their tray w/ peppers & their specials on chicken sandwiches. [i'm a chicken lover] their moscato wine is nice as well. if you love ranch, their ranch is AMAZING!! they sell it in wine bottles but i'm not sure of the pricing. they say it's haunted as well. the atmosphere & staff are lovely, i know the owner personally and she's a sweetheart w/ a cool Irish accent! you'll enjoy it as a family, on a date or solo. highly recommended if in the area.

It was dusty and had an old mildew smell. It was dark and dreary. They really need to do a upgrade. I couldn't buy anything. We went for a wine tasting but they don't offer those on a Sunday. We didn't even buy any wine. It was just a turn off

This restaurant and it’s related inn and winery are a NC hidden gem. The service is awesome and the food is great. I highly recommend the whole package deal!!! Atmosphere is kind of medieval but so much fun!!

We came for our anniversary dinner. Its been closed all the other times we stopped in. The place is lit with candles. So dark and intimate. They offered free wine tastings. Wine tastings are always fun, regardless of your take of wine. I found a couple I did like. They are a little sweet for me. They have a little veggie platter with dinner. Turkey glazed appetizer- yum!- I got prime rib. Stuffed potato. With salad. Hubby had pork chop and same sides. They make their own dressings! The blue cheese was amazing. Tell them how much you want lol. They bring all these little dishes to plop extra of any needed condiments- dressings, sour cream, butter, bacon... Staff was great. We enjoyed the time and it was refreshing to eat someplace else for a change.
