Great restaurant! Short menu, quality meal. Appetizers were great. We tried the oysters, mushrooms and crab dip. All three were great. The staff is very attentive and considerate. It was a very enjoyable evening.

Sat at the bar with lovely background music at just the right level, engaging staff and THE FOOD! We shared the “iceberg salad” - so many tasty treats on top! Bone in pork chop fabulous and duck breast a WOW! Both mains complemented by delicious sides and cooked to perfection. Bluejay Bistro is our go to place when at Lake Gaston.

My wife and I were really looking forward to dining here. Unfortunately we were both pretty ‘meh' about our experience. We arrived and were promptly check in. My wife was wearing a nice dress and I was wearing nice jeans, dress shoes, and a polo shirt. I was also wearing a clean/dark baseball-style hat. After being seated for maybe five minutes, the same person that seated us came back to ask me to “please remove your hat while dining with us.” I promptly complied - but it bugged me afterwards, and my wife thought it was a very rude request. Sure, we get it. It's a nice establishment, and it even says in their website's FAQ that men please remove their hats. I just feel that this was handled poorly - the lady that seated us could have asked me “do you have a health reason or other concern for leaving your hat on?” or something of that nature. What if I had horrible scars or other deformity that I didn't want to put on display to other patrons? I shouldn't have to retort to a blunt request with what may have been just that. And seated three tables down were other patrons with noisy kids whom weren't dressed “smart casual” at all - but my hat was obviously the bigger problem for this establishment. The food was ok - granted we had the burger - but aside from being cooked to our specification (medium) it was pretty bland for a $28 burger. Their cocktails were also generally overpriced. $13+ for a cocktail is a bit much. My wife and I are from South Florida, so maybe our experiences from other ‘nice' restaurants in that area are just generally better; but I believe if this restaurant was in South Florida it wouldn't be in business long. If you live locally and want a ‘fine' dining experience without having to drive quite a distance, this restaurant is about all you're going to get.

Excellent. We enjoyed everything from the moment we arrived. The entire team works well together - the moment you walk in, to the moment you leave will be very well curated by the staff. I recommend the bone-in pork chop, which I had, along with the slab (wedge) salad. I am not local but visit the lake area as often as possible. This is a five star possible gem in a major city, located in a small, rejuvenated town that deserves more accolades. I have worked and lived in cities like Pittsburgh, NYC, and DC and would argue Blue Bird Bistro is among the better of each cities offerings. Go - taste - enjoy. We will return whenever we are in town for sure.

Our meal was delicious and we were celebrating a friends birthday who had not been there. We shall come again. We were only disappointed in the fact that the menu did not match the website menu, we were looking forward to the scallops and they did not offer them. The website should reflect the menu.

We enjoyed another great meal at the Blue Jay! Had the Hams and Jams appetizer, our favorite! My husband had the fried chicken entree and I had the duck. Both were fabulous. We finished it off with the Walking on Sunshine dessert which we loved. As always service was top notched.

You will never be disappointed at Blue Jay Bistro. You can't wrong with anything on the menu. I highly suggest ordering the Oysters Clara as a shareable, they're a classic. The cocktails are creative & so are all of the dishes. And make sure to save room for dessert & cap it off with the delicious Graceland cocktail ??

We had a wonderful meal with with drinks and appetizers before the LCAC concert, and everything was spectacular. The service was extraordinary, as well. My wife and I have been several times, but this was the first visit for my brother and sister-in-law. I think they'll insist on going back on their next visit!

Ray, our server, was impeccable. Evan, a manager, could not have been more welcoming and inviting. We were given a tour of some of the new areas of the facility, which was really nice. The food was delicious. We have never left there disappointed.

As usual, the food and service were wonderful. Our server, Courtney, was attentive without being intrusive. She knew my allergies and made an effort to know what I could and could not eat. My entree was delicious- I could have eaten only wilted greens and been happy! Delicious! The heirloom beans were not a favorite. Steve had a difficult time piercing some of the beans with his fork. They were just not for him, but the carrots and short ribs were great. We look forward to our next visit!

Great ambiance, great food! We ate there for Valentine's Day. They had a pre-set menu with choices for each course. My husband and I chose different selections for each course and they were ALL delicious!

Our waitress was amazing!! I think her name was Katie?! Atmosphere was classy and bright - love the decor. We had drinks, appetizers, dinner and dessert and everything was great! Enjoyed an after dinner drink by the fire on the patio!
