I wanted to order the chili with a side of jalapeños and the lady at the register said they can't. How do u have jalapeños in your food and multiple items on your menu but I can't have it on the side? That makes no sense. Customer service was def the worst part of the experience here. 2/10

Been 5 years since my last visit. Greeted by a less than enthusiastic staff. All seemed unhappy to have a job here. The food was good. Mac & cheese was not cheesy. The order was ready quickly.

I've tried Moes off and on over past few years and will not even consider going back ever again all the food average at best. We need good quality BBQ in this area. Restaurants around this area are not consistent

I’ve been here 1 time before about 2 years ago and it was great. Went for dinner today and it was amazing. Quick and friendly service even though they were short staffed. The food came out at the perfect temperature and it was delicious. The jalapeño grits were out of this world as was the watermelon salsa. Chicken and street corn were good. Ribs and cornbread were also great.

Have you ever loved a place for years then it went downhill? Then you keep going every 6-12 months to see if they recovered... for like 3-4 years? And it remained terrible. Well, for me, that's Moe's original bbq in Matthews.We all know I've given one star because I have no other choice... But, let's pretend I am giving 0.5 stars for the decor and location because that's amazing. Then the other 0.5 star is for the POTENTIAL that the menu has. Because honestly, the menu has been the same for years and the food used to be amazing.Cons: the service has been awful since the descent. That was the first thing to go and the most consistent problem. Usually it's the attitude. The staff has not cared for a while. Things will be missing, orders messed up, no apology. I promise there has been at LEAST one problem every single time for the past 8 visits.However, we went again today for the first time in 2 years and the food was bad. It tastes like they are using old oil.We observed two of the four staff tonight engaging in unsanitary practices. One lady wiping down the silver dishes they serve on with the same dirty rag as the trash can and counter. They serve food on these with paper laid over top. They did not go through a wash, just a dirty wipe down. Then a guy was actively eating/chewing over our take out containers as he packed/checked them.Sanitation score: 90.5. take that as you will.I have tried to be the loyal customer. I HATE leaving bad reviews - check my history. Downtown Matthews is amazing and we need this spot to be better.

Came Sunday for an early lunch. At first glance the place needs a good scrub down. The front door and inside garage doors has hand prints everywhere, heaven help their bathroom. The lady that took our order wore a black bra top and sweat pants which wasn’t appropriate work dress. Our greeting was her informing us that the menu printed and posted on the wall was not correct. She said “her manager wouldn’t let her thrown the Lorne’s menus away.” The smoked chicken salad was delicious but the Mac n cheese was very dry. Cute downtown area but not sure we’d come back.

Never had this place until today! The pulled BBQ sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in awhile. BBQ sauce was fantastic! Baked beans were also pretty dang good. Nothing will compare to my grandmoms Mac & cheese but this came pretty close to it! Great atmosphere and the staff was welcoming! Will be back!
BBQ was very good so were the greens. Wings are smoked and very tasty. Cornbread was excellent. Service was lacking but cooks were friendly. Hard to find but worth a try if you like BBQ.

Completely disappointed! My family and I have been customers for five years now and we will not be going back. This is the third time in a row my order has been wrong. We ordered take out for the last time - items were omitted, the wings were ultra dry and looked reheated from days before, and the customer service was nonexistent. Don't waste your money, this establishment has good downhill.

In Charlotte we have a terrible fast food chain by the same name, so I almost missed this place!! In fact when we invited friends they all also thought this was the "other" place, so I'm sure that works against them. Food is delicious. Turkey is amazing. For once a BBQ place that has decent side dishes! (Mac and cheese needs a little help but otherwise excellent). Have been there 3 times this month. I would give it 5 stars if it was a bit cleaner inside, they need to give it more attention (everything is sticky) but just on food- love it!

Delicious! The BBQ pork was cooked perfectly...so juicy and flavorful! I didn't even need extra BBQ sauce like I normally do. The flavors were incredible! My kids loved the Mac and cheese and the chicken tenders taste just like Southern fried chicken...my picky eaters actually finished their whole lunch!The service was super friendly and we will definitely be back!
