SO GOOD the sushi is so yummy I got a salmon avocado and a salmon cream cheese with spicy sauce. They also make their spicy mayo in house. It is honestly so good and I would recommend 10/10 support small businesses!!!!

This place is an amazing. It's a small place on Monroe Rd, but they have a BIG IMPACT. The food is great. I typically get the eel and they have about 4 eel options. The wasabi is great. I feel right at home and the people working here are always the nicest. If you're looking for good sushi, here you have it. ✌?

I always came here when I lived in Matthews. Maybe twice to three times a month. Now we only go maybe once every other month just because we live an hour away. But this place has been awesome the past two years I've known of it's existence. Great service (people are humble and kind). The sushi is great. Taste amazing. Made to order. Try the Thai tea with boba! It's sooooo yummy! The ambiance is quiet with maybe some music sometimes. It's a family oriented atmosphere. Prices are great too!

I recently went to sushi star for the first time about a month ago. Every time I come, the man at the register is always super nice! And he's very kind and will make sure you feel comfortable. I don’t know his name, sorry. But the food is very good and it’s a chill spot to be at. Would recommend everyone here!

I loved this place in the past. My last visit I didn’t even want to finish the rolls. Half of them had no taste and the other two that were fried just tasted like fried breading. I’ve loved this place in the past so I’m not giving up on it. Maybe the just had a bad day. If so I’ll change my review.

The lady who works Thursday afternoon shift 5/11 13:00; put an extra shrimp 2x sauce in my bag and then took it from me When I ask for shrimp sauce, and gave me less than she originally intended to give me. Then charged me for her courtesy gesture…. Bad fr business (after driving 20+ minutes)

The environment is so clean and pleasant! I was greeted by a kind man who remembered my name even after bringing my order to the table. (I found that to be very personable.) The lady in the kitchen spoke to me twice and even made sure every thing was good. From start to finish I was given hospitality I haven't experienced at most five star restaurants! I tried two tuna rolls, both spicy and one white tuna. They were simple but delicious and fresh! After my meal I thanked him and we exchanged a few niceties, after which I informed him I'll be visiting again!

My wife and I just moved from Los Angeles so have had a lot of sushi in my life. We ordered 4 rolls expecting the bogo deal that was listed on their website only for them to inform us that they discontinued this deal a year ago. Ginger was rancid, wasabi was runny, I would not order any of the raw rolls again, however the fried California (Francesca) is one of the best values for the price that I have seen and was very tasty. Beware that any of their signature rolls will be coated (and I mean coated) with sauce and will fall apart so if you like sushi soup this is for you!

Came here for the first time and we enjoyed it very much! There was a kind man at the front that greeted us and we ordered hibachi. The meat for the hibachi was seasoned well and they give you a good portion and of course some shrimp sauce! Will go back to try the sushi since their sushi chef was out for vacation. Overall clean and great service! Def recommend!
