That place is more of a restaurant than a bakery. I went for food but I was not satisfied with the food.

They show new ownership more focused on the food and I have to say it was amazing and delicious. Great selection as well.

Update:They seem to have a new owner, honestly, I go more for the food than the bakery, I wish they had more fresh bread. The place and prices are ok, their food is delicious.I give one star just because is the only “Guatemalan” bakery I’ve seen in Monroe and because their service is not so bad. But, my experience was awful. I’m sure the bread is not made fresh ever day, which it wouldn’t be such a big deal if it didn’t tasted like cardboard when I tried it, and literally never in my life I had a COLD out of the fridge donut, horrible flavor, even the chocolate tasted nasty. Charging $2.50 for a non fresh made bread is ridiculous.

I order 1 or 2 times a week but the last 3 times they barely give the complete order. Today they gave me a broth de rez with barely any rice and a piece of bone-in vegetables aside. I asked for corn tamales and they gave me 60 dollars of rice that I don't think anymore spend here, the owner better dedicate himself to his vitamins

Easily one of the best, authentic Central American bakeries in the city of Monroe North Carolina. The restaurant/ bakery offers an exotic, daily special that really brings the chef's talents to the fore. One of the specialies, the pupusas, are handmaid to order and feature a perfect blend of savory white cheese and hand rolled, crisp, tortilla like covering.Traditional fruit drinks are served along with 'ochata' a sweetened rice milk high in carbs and taste.Panaderia Quetzal is a traditional mom and pop eatery that comfortably seats upwards of fifty people, Panaderia Quetzal offers a full menu and regional fare from Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua. The service is terrific and most orders are served within 10 to 15 minutesI can not recommend this restaurant enough, especially for those looking for a spicy break from all too ubiquitous Mexican food.A real hidden gem that's great for the family or a working lunch. The service is par none. You will instantly be greater with a warm smile and a batallian of home cooked aromas upon entry.
