Was staying in Mt. Airy last Saturday and ate here on another’s recommendation. The sushi was great and the server behind the bar was super friendly and helpful.

Food was delicious, as it has always been. Service was horrific. We used to go often for lunch, but this is one of the reasons we hardly go anymore. Will probably be a while before we go back.We were barely acknowledged, took drink orders, then started cleaning tables and didn't bring the drinks. After 5-10 minutes, we had to ask for our drinks. After we ordered, she never came back to our table. Drinks sat empty for most of our meal. She wouldn't even look toward us. People from the back delivered our food. We had to ask the gentleman behind the sushi bar to see if we could get our check and to go boxes. Another wait staff came and brought our ticket, to go boxes.

Ordered sushi on 3 different occasions at Kazoku and the quality of sushi declined each time. Will never step in their doors again. Their sushi is not fresh. Ginger is old and brown. Went to Sam's Club today and purchased their rainbow roll and it was EXCELLENT and it was FRESH. At Sam's Club the sushi is made FRESH daily by sushi chefs that actually know what they're doing. At Kazoku they don't have a clue.

I don't think anyone working there had experience with sushi or even eaten it. I ordered vegetable tempura and received a vegetarian roll drowning in sweet and sour sauce. It was nit good and not what I ordered however I was still charged for it. The sushi chef got my next roll order wrong then made a new one only to forget key ingredients such as avocado. Fish was fresh however the selection lacks inspiration and the preparation is executed poorly. The floors were sticky and the menus definitely need cleaning.Our waiter was Spanish speaking and it was very difficult to communicate with him.

The sushi was phenomenal. The tempura was great too. Service, fantastic. Ambiance, great. The teriyaki chicken left something to be desired. It was terribly dry but since we were there mostly for the sushi and that was terrific, we would definitely recommend and go back ourselves.
