I am Vietnamese, so my opinion can ba biased. If you are Vietnamese or have tried more authentic Pho from other places, you would not like the flavor here, broth is a little too sweet and not much flavorful. I ordered pho combo beef (Phở đặc biệt) and spicy beef noodle soup (Bún bò Huế) to go (that’s why don’t listen to me regarding service).Again, like some other Vietnamese restaurants in Raleigh, they probably cater their cooking for Western customers, so they will probably do well given the restaurant is at the heart of downtown Raleigh.Hope anyone reading this will have a great experience with food in Raleigh, knowing what you are looking for.(Forgot to take pictures, my bad)

This is my go-to place after a hard day. I always get the pho and spring rolls. The atmosphere is lovely. There's free parking in the garage at the back, you just need to give the waiter your parking number. The staff are wonderful and the food always comes quickly and hot. It's so good. Vegetarian options: Tofu pho, tofu spring rollsParking: There's free parking in the garage in the back, you just need to give the waiter your parking number.

Anise Pho, nestled within the vibrant tapestry of a bustling cultural hub, is a culinary gem that seamlessly blends simplicity with elegance. From the moment one steps through its doors, the inviting interior design captivates, offering a serene oasis amidst the urban hustle. The restaurant's decor, characterized by its understated yet refined aesthetics, sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The allure of dining next to an open window seat adds a touch of charm, allowing patrons to soak in the lively ambiance of the surrounding neighborhood.Situated in close proximity to multiple colleges and condominiums, Anise Pho stands as a beacon of culinary excellence in a diverse community. Despite its modest menu offerings, the quality of the cuisine surpasses expectations, leaving diners delighted and satisfied. During my visit, I had the pleasure of indulging in the fried tofu with chili sauce, a dish that tantalized the taste buds with its perfect balance of flavors and textures. Additionally, the Pho, a quintessential Vietnamese noodle soup featuring succulent shrimp and crisp vegetables, surpassed all expectations with its rich aroma and depth of flavor. While the menu may be concise, Anise Pho excels in delivering exceptional quality, evident even in its beverage offerings. The Boba tea, a signature favorite among patrons, exemplifies the mastery and dedication of the establishment to provide top-notch culinary delights. Anise Pho is a culinary treasure that captivates both the senses and the soul. With its inviting ambiance, impeccable service, and unparalleled culinary offerings, it stands as a testament to the richness and diversity of the local dining scene. Whether seeking a quick bite or a leisurely meal, Anise Pho is sure to exceed expectations and leave a lasting impression on all who venture through its doors.

So the food was ok. The pork on my bahn mi was tasty. But things go down hill from there. We got delivery and the two side salads we ordered were thrown together in one box with the wrong dressing. A vegan bahn mi was in the same box as a pork bahn mi with no wrapping or anything to separate them. The vegan one was smaller for some reason? Like the bread was actually shorter. The vegan one didn’t have any daikon at all and the pork one had three pieces(I asked for extra!). Pretty disappointing since I was excited for the Bahn mi. Idk if there was sauce on it or not tbh. Spring rolls were good but stuck to the paper doily in the box.. why are those in there? Lol. French fries were ok, could have had a little seasoning on them.Vegetarian options: They put a vegan sandwich in the same box as a porch sandwich.

Our party of 4 enjoyed the brisket pho, spicy lemongrass pork rice platter and grilled beef rice platter and Thai tea with boba. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The pho broth was rich and full of flavor and the brisket was plentiful and tender. The spicy lemongrass pork was delicious and tender. We will be back very soon!!!Vegetarian options: Vegetable pho

Vegans -- watch out here!!I would give Anise Pho 5 stars, but realized (after being a patron for years) that when ordering takeout and "complete vegan" is selected on the bahn mi, that they still don't remove the mayo. I called about this when I saw mayo clearly on the sandwich -- they told me that they make the mayo in-house and could "assure" me that the mayo is vegan.. so when I clarified, "so, there's no egg in the mayo?", they confirmed that there IS egg in the mayo, like I expected.Just be careful and be sure to specify NO MAYO, even if the order says "complete vegan". I really enjoy this place otherwise. Just disappointing to have this experience.

Great food. I would say a step up from many Asian choices. The Pho is great and the steak or chicken rice platters are nice. Steak is often second rate at Asian restaurants but its great here. The music inside the restaurant is often raunchy and off putting so We carry out.
