My son found this place, and we loved it. Yiu walk in and the delicious barneque is smell of meat and sauce take over your sences. It's quaint and has a small outdoor area where you can enjoy your meal. We had the chicken Caesar (wayyyy to much grated cheese) salad, BBQ chicken sandwich and fries, half rack ribs, a couple of sodas, and a beer. I would have given the food 5 stars, but the salad had so much cheese it was not edible. We did take the chicken out and onto a separate plate and finished it and left the rest. We will be back!Parking: Just pull up and there is plenty of space

The City BBQ in Cary and Durham were 1000 times better than the Falls of the Neuse location in Raleigh. First, the guy taking our order didn't seem like he wanted to answer our questions or speak with us, although we witnessed his happy attitude with the guests in front of us. Next, the bar bq at this location had no taste and seemed like it had been boiled without any seasoning and was super mushy. I tried the Raleigh location because it was closer to my home, but I will take the drive to Durham or Cary from now on

Placed a large order and they were out of brisket...the Manager finally agreed to use some of what they had prepared for the next day's orders. This was great after I offered to go to another location to get some as this order was for my Son and Daughter In Law who no longer live here and were visiting from Boston ! They love this food so much last visit at New Year's they actually had to purchase an additional suitcase to carry their Raleigh/ Durham/ Chapel Hill foodie haul. 3 full racks of ribs, 2 brisket and all the fixings. I ordered extra fixings and somehow they were omitted from the bag though paid for in an additional order.

Please allow me to state this is my 2nd experience within 3 days (my first order was missing two items)...I purposely wanted to pickup my 'compensated' order today to test their consistency. Well today's order was worst than before...there's no way they prepare this food 'fresh' daily; the meat portions are SO dry (burnt and flavorous); the Collards and Baked Beans are far from being the same (the greens were bland and the beans have had no brisket); the Potatoe Salad tasted like 'store brought' (not freshly prepared in-store). Best of all was the Texas Toast...then the Cornbread (both complimentary items). This restaurant is "officially" on my X list...Dis-gus-ting!

I’m giving 3 stars because the cashier was super friendly and the guy working the expo counter that gave me my food were sweet. The food on the other hand was trash! Eating the brisket is like drinking vinegar straight out of a bottle, I could have nailed art on the wall with the macaroni and cheese, the collards were what I would imagine eating paper clips would be like and I literally almost choked on a piece of hard chicken on the leg quarter.

First couple times I went here it was quite good. That was maybe 7 or 8 months ago. Maybe once or twice since then was it good. Most of the times however it has been really dry. Brisket, chicken, pulled pork - doesn’t matter. Pretty disappointing because like I said I had some good experiences here. Last 4 or 5 times I’ve gone it has been consistently bad and I’m not going to go again for a while if at all. Also, I tend to get stomach cramps from eating here. Idk what that’s about and it might not be the food it could be the sauces or how they settle with me. But the food hasn’t been good for a while in my experience.

With smiths closed on Sunday and kind of small, we opted to bring visiting family here for bbq. Overall seating was large and a good fit with a toddler so as to not impinge on anyone else's enjoyment. The sampler platter was an easy way to try a bunch of items. Everything was good - for me a 4 star bbq. Most sides were good, not great, but good+, only thing is cornbread is a bit dry and really would be nice to have some butter or brown sugar butter type spread. Overall is a small chain that serves decent food at reasonable prices in a typical no frills bbq joint. We all enjoyed everything we ordered with the chicken a nice smokiness, tender and juicy. The ribs were also very good and chopped pork was tender and moist. I'm not a brisket fan but the others said it was good. Sides are typical, fries are nothing special. It's good enough to repeat visits and we found it better than the highly acclaimed place we read about in Raleigh that I won't name here but was nothing special. Lots more places to check out but for a larger party, this place has the seating and space with better than average food. Also a large variety and more choices than many smaller places. Forgot to mention they have smoked turkey too. Turkey is difficult since it has so little fat to keep it moist , but it was tender and tasty. So if you are not into beef or pork, they got you covered with chicken and turkey. Checkout the menu!

I had the City Sampler which is brisket, pulled pork, sausage, and turkey with two sides. Definitely plenty of food for lunch and dinner later. Tried all of their sauces at the sauce bar and maybe it's the North Carolinian in me but I preferred the swine wine on the pork and turkey. Brisket needs no sauce and is melt in your mouth delicious. Collards were ok but the Mac was amazing!

There was one gentleman who just shined he was polite, nice, funny and on it with fast tracking the food. I think he was the manager he knew everyone and made you feel at home. He stapled my bag to keep me safe on the road and from eating these piping hot delicious hushpuppies while I drove. They were so hot, well seasoned and flavorful. All the food was- nice staff and lots of smiling happy customer faces spotted.

Last time. Needs more smoke flavor and it’s so freaking DRY. Probably won the championship for driest brisket in NC. Don’t order takeout or they’ll guarantee to give you the driest meat they have. It’s sad cause I got better bbq in the
