I have to start with an important preface, I frequented this bar from 2002-2006. It's been a long time so grain of salt. On a Friday or Saturday night we'd start here and hang out for a few hours, go somewhere else, then finish the night here. This was at least every other weekend for 4 years. At the time the atmosphere was ok. I was lucky enough to have been friends and lived with one of the rugby players. This bar was the main sponsor of what was basically an intramural or club squad. Which was also part of the problem. If you weren't part of the men's or women's team or friends with one, your service sucked, to be brutally honest. One of the players was notorious for sitting in one spot like Norm Peterson, but without the affable nature, and just being angry at anyone who wasn't a regular. Yeah, Sean, I remember you. Food was bad, service bad, bathrooms were worse. As I say in every review for places in Raleigh, it was pretentious.

My husband & I had one of our first dates here & went here after we were married. He's from Scotland & loves a good fish & chips. They do offer Cod or Haddock. In the UK it's always Haddock. He felt the dish could have been hotter & that it was sitting under the warmer. Service was unremarkable, she seemed tired.Absolutely love the decor, feels like a pub in Scotland, save the super high ceilings....lol.....Will always go back for nostalgia.

Can here tonight with a group of buddies. The upstairs bartender Nicole told us we could seat outside and someone would be out to help us. We sat down and the host came charging out and making a scene asking us why we sat ourselves. Our server came around, no menus or anything, we were there for just drinks but didn't know what they had. After a back and forth the bartender came out and offered us menus and apologized profusely for the interaction with the host. We'll be back for the bar but that's it.

The food here has always been very good. We went for $5 Burger Monday....a double patty burger and side!....both were cooked to order and tasted great. The wait staff was OK and probably the only thing that could improve. Our waitress was mostly absent when we needed her, but did show up eventually. We enjoyed sitting on the outdoor patio upstairs although a little loud when there's traffic.

Sat 3/30/24 at 5pm, we took our 21yo son to Hibernian on Glenwood ave to celebrate his 21st birthday. Only + was they did give him a free drink. Otherwise the service was bad & the food was worse. Our waiter was really nice but had too many tables to take care of. Asked the food runner for water & she totally ignored me. After 5-10 minutes the waiter showed up & brought water immediately. Food was way too salty. Could not eat the mashed potatoes at all & the corned beef & Shepards pie were also uneatable due to the salt. combine that with no water & bad service = Bad Experience. ladies bathroom was nasty. wet floor & tp on the floor.

It was St. Patrick's Day weekend, so, of course we had to drop by Hibernian on our visit to Raleigh. Sat upstairs at a table overlooking Glenwood Ave. Had a Guinness, of course and 2 sliders-Reuben & Fish. Both were very good, but I preferred the fish. Good service. Decorated as an Irish pub should be. Glad we stopped in.

We LOVE the Hibernian Irish Pub! I have been going to the Hibernian for over 20 years but more recently my husband and I have loved coming here! The FOOD if amazing! The prices are fair! And the staff is a super helpful! My husband and I chose to celebrate our wedding here. We rented the upstairs space and celebrated with family and friends. Due to unexpected rain, we actually got make our marriage legal right on the patio! we super appreciated the coordination with the staff in making our day the most special event for us. The staff was amazing! they were super easy to work with and they helped take care of all of our guests and family! Everyone said it was the BEST wedding they have been to. Amazing food, great atmosphere, helpful staff, and just overall a great time! We would absolutely choose the Hibernian Irish Pub to get married at again if we had to.I Cannot say enough great things about this place! Now we can look forward to celebrating all of our anniversary’s here!Dietary restrictions: Several of my guests had gluten allergies and they were able to accommodate them with the use of separate cookware/kitchens/meals, so they would feel included and fed through our festivities.Wheelchair accessibility: They have an elevator to second floor if needed.
