I made a Google account specifically to make this review. My experience was lackluster at best and negligent at worst. The staff were super nice, but a ton of stuff they promised never came to fruition. I ordered the rainbow roll, expecting it to be shrimp, tuna, and avocado. The menu failed to mention that the Rainbow roll was literally just the California roll with the aforementioned ingredients on top. Now, I would usually say this was my fault for not reading the fine print, but nothing in the menu insinuated that the actual roll would be the California roll. This pissed me off, but the severs handled the situation with care and respect. I’d like to stress that none of the wait staff did anything wrong and were actually very helpful. I believe our server’s name was Terry. He was very sweet and helped us out despite the restaurant being busy. The thing that sent me over the edge was the birthday cake. My father’s birthday is today and we got him a special ice cream cake. When we called, the person on the phone said they could put the cake in the freezer. When we got there, I handed the cake to the hosts and told them specifically that it was an ice cream cake and that it needed to be put in the freezer immediately. The two hosts were nice and funny, but they made no actual haste to get the cake in the freezer. We waited a bit to sit down, approximately 3 minutes, and the hosts kept the actively melting cake sitting there. Even when we went to be sat down, the cake was still on their desk. After lunch, We requested to have the cake brought out to the table for my father. Our server obliged and didn’t come back for 10 minutes. Once again, this might have been on the kitchen rather than him. When we got the cake, my worst nightmares came true as I saw the state of the cake. It was buckling under its own weight, clearly melting too much to hold its shape. It was an absolute mess and I can guarantee it was because of the hosts’ lack of urgency for a simple request we gave to them. I assume they either put the cake in the refrigerator rather than the freezer or they neglected to have it put into the freezer until it was too late. We ate the borderline milkshake of an ice cream cake in an even more sour mood than before. The check took forever to get to us and we left feeling extremely disappointed.Over and over again, we were let down both when we were in the restaurant and when we called to make reservations. The food here is very good, I will not deny that. It’s a shame so much went wrong here when everything could have been avoided if a little more care was taken. We will not be coming back.

I ordered mac n cheese...what happen to cheddar cheese and I saw onions in there. WHY??? The shrimps are just regular shrimps. I remember ordering the shrimp meal with large shrimp....why change??? I normally enjoy the meal here but this time was a disappointment.

Had the best meal ever, again! I'm never disappointed when I eat at J Alexanders. The wait was an hour, so we sat at the bar. Emily took care of us with another handsome (African-American) man (wish I would have gotten his name). They were both so attentive and detail oriented. I can't say enough about my favorites offerings... ThaiKai Salad, Steak and Frites (perfect temperature) and the Carrot Cake. The service and atmosphere are wonderful too but will take second place to the fabulous food.

I made a reservation for myself and my employees and we didn't get seated until 30 minutes after the scheduled reservation. Our waiter was terrible as it pertains to being attentive and executing a simple task, bringing us drinks, and or asking if we need refills. What is known as a prime rib sandwich to the rest of the world to them? It's a slab of meat on the side of two pieces of bread. This was a horrible experience. When I spoke with the manager she seemed very indifferent about it all I will not return.

My major issue with this place is their excuse when they over cook my filet mignon. It happens 50% of the time when I order a medium mignon. It is overcooked and they “say” the outside sometimes will be overcooked because of the cut. I think you need a new chef. I have never received this lame excuse from angus barn or capital grill.I plan to eat the entire cut unless you want to charge me for just center.Just ridiculous.

Date night... we enjoyed our night. Our server was really good and attentive even though the restaurant was pretty packed. The food was really delicious. The salmon was cooked perfectly! My husband enjoyed his steak. We also enjoyed drinks and dessert. We will definitely be dining here again.

I dined here last Friday night. The experience was odd. The hostess did not even say hello or goodbye, she was on her phone and she basically threw are menus on the table and walked away. The waiter was hostile when I proceeded to order an alcoholic beverage after asking for water. He was in-personable and did not seem to care for us being there. My order came out and it was wrong and overcooked. First time here. Not planning on returning.

Regrettably we decided to try this once great restaurant for Sunday lunch. We understand service everywhere is not what it used to be but when you watch people arrive later than we did and get waited/served before us it is not a good start. But we waited 20 min for our drinks. Approximately 35 min seated we ordered lunch, burger and fries and I chose chicken tenders and fries. When her burger and fries finally arrived the fries were so soaked in grease they could not be eaten. When we brought this to our servers attention she stated " I saw they were really greasy but I brought them anyway" If I saw something not right then why would you make the decision to serve???? They then offered to replace the order of fries and did and they were ok. I didn't know if we hit this place on an "off" day or this is the new normal. We will not return, and we are disappointed as this used to be our go to place while in the Raleigh area.
