Beware- this place is no longer the Mi Cancun that used to be here. Ownership has changed, and they don’t seem to know what they’re doing. Blaring mariachi music, strobe lights, 20 minute wait for drinks when there were 10 servers just hanging around the kitchen. The majority of the menu is in Spanish. Sounds authentic right? No. The food was terrible. Bland, flavorless messes in huge portions. It reminded of me of Kitchen Nightmares. I ordered ACP and the chicken was rubbery and cheese was like soft plastic. This is NOTHING near the quality of food of Mi Cancun. Every Mexican restaurant that my family has been to in Raleigh has food that is so much better than this new restaraunts. The owner seriously needs to eat at the competition and get an idea of how food is supposed to taste. There is NO reason to chose this place over anywhere else until they hire someone to redo the menu and cook food that actually tastes good. Such a huge disappointment. Hope they turn it around.

I don’t like leaving bad reviews but this is under new management and it is night and day. Wait staff ignores you or says they don’t understand. Ordered simple steak tacos and chicken tacos. Steak was over cooked and hard. Chicken was better. But when asked what came with tacos no one had any idea. Then charged for guacamole when menu clearly states it comes with. Was one of my favorite Mexican Restaurants but will not be going back any time soon

Thank God I came across this location. I had been to various Mexican seafood restaurants but by far this is the best authentic seafood I have had . Their red snapper and langostinos were to die for. The employees are so welcoming and polite. The chef even came to our table and made us a personalized dish . I Will be here every week!

Granted it was Cinco de Maya and they were busy but we sat there for 20 minutes and finally had to try to flag l someone down. After 2 servers said just a minute we had to flag a third person. It took 20 minutes to get the worst margaritas I have ever had. They were so full of sour mix you could hardly drink them and no buzz whatsoever. Awful drinks. Food was okay. Then a mariachi band started up and they were SO loud you couldn’t talk to the person sitting right next to you without yelling. It was just too loud for an inside space. It was one of the least enjoyable dining experiences I’ve had. Sorry, not sure I could give it another chance purely based on the drinks.

I thought I was in the twilight zone. This was the most bizarre experience. 10/10 wouldn’t recommend. The music was so loud. If I was visually impaired, I would’ve thought we had entered a night club with the all the DJ remixes that were playing. 5:30 on Saturday and the place was practically empty. I wasn’t sure if anyone was even working. It took 15 minutes to find an employee to get chips and water. Ordered Margaritas and the waitress didnt know what we were talking about. The margaritas were horrible. 99% sour mix/ 1% alcohol. The quality of food and drinks were not worth the cost. $90 for 3 entrees 3 drinks. Turn around don’t drown.

The NEW owner had no order in this restaurant. I got there and wanted a drink they said they didn’t have, then they had it, my son tea was fresh instead of sweet tea, then found out a freaking margarita was $$16.99, my food was burnt and instead they fix it they said to change my order, which didn’t freaking happen i got what i wanted, the way it should be, they did not have a kids menu, I’m all for diversity but no one understood what the F I was saying and one waiter tried really hard. The worst experience. COVID-19 SURE MESSED UP A LOT BECAUSE THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD IT DOWN 100%… never will they get money from me again.

This is no longer Mi Cancun, even though the signs and the info online all suggests that it is. It is instead a Mexican seafood restaurant with an entirely different menu than what is listed online. It is called Mariscos Altamar, but the new owners are apparently trying to trick everyone into thinking it's Mi Cancun. I came to this location to go to Mi Cancun, not some random restaurant that I can't see the menu for ahead of time. There are very few vegetarian options at the restaurant, and zero vegan options. The only thing on the menu I could eat was chips and guacamole. Service was slow, my water was never refilled, it took forever to get our check because the staff was all chatting inside, and the other folks I was with said their meals were just okay. Obviously never coming here again, and I don't recommend it for anyone with dietary restrictions or allergies either.

Mi Cancun recently closed for renovations. They have opened back up in the last week or so as a NEW restaurant. The signs outside still say Mi Cancun but the restaurants ownership, name, and menu has changed. If you loved Mi Cancun like my family did then many of your menu favorites are gone and the prices have gone up. I just wanted to give people a heads up.With that being said the food that we did receive at this visit was delicious and the service was fantastic! The new leadership is taking the restaurant into a Hispanic seafood direction. The renovations are amazing but I wanted to let people know who are expecting Mi Cancun that sadly it is no longer with us.If you love seafood then this place is the place for you!

This was my favorite Mexican restaurant in Raleigh. What set them apart was the quality and taste of their meat. Another plus is that I do not smell like frying oil after leaving. Some highlights on the menu were the carne asada (including the menu item "carne asada and enchiladas"), fajita quesadilla, California burrito, and alambre. This review edited to change present tense to past tense, because the very day after I wrote this review I ate there and discovered that their menu and concept has changed: they are no longer Mi Cancun.

Really good margaritas. Best in North Raleigh. Food was pretty good. Not outstanding, but very reasonably priced. Service was a bit slow, but the waiter was pleasant. Will definitely come back.

Great food, good service, very little wait time for a table. Quick and easy even with kids

Tried to eat there on a Saturday. Not open despite signage that it should have opened 40minutes earlier. Go elsewhere.

I was shopping in the area and I ran into mi Cancun looking for a margarita needless to say I end up dining in and I totally loved the spicy steak with tomatillo sauce so tasty and margarita was super freshly made. Definitely will be returning for more. Staff was friendly and super attentive, food was prepared fairly quick.
