“Absolute delight!!! The creativity of the chef is just amazing to come up with this menu!!! We go out a lot, and the dish I will be craving till next time we visit NC. Go and order everything from the menu! Chips are seasoned and thin!!! My mahi mahi dish had 4 pieces and I couldn't finish, slaw is juicy and tasty!!! Drinks are great!“
“The seafood shack is next to the seafood market, where the fresh fish is sourced. And there’s fish delivered to the dock off the market. The clam chowder (really good) is white but not too thick. And you can order local fish (broiled is our preferred) in your choice of taco, sandwich, bowl or platter. The platter comes with rice and beans, which are good but I’d rather save room for the seafood. Our son is vegetarian and they made a veggie bowl (rice, beans, slaw, avocado) for him. Wish they have some seating. We ate in the car but the food made up for it.“

“Not a big fan of the chicken or the steak, both are too dry for me. The ground beef, pork and shrimp are great. Sunday brunch burritos are also great. Outside eating area is fantastic. Downsides are that it always takes a long time for the food to be delivered and it’s relatively expensive for what it is. I will keep going back, but if I don’t have 45 mins to spare, it’s not an option.“
“We had an amazing catered lunch from here today. There were about 30 people and the set up was amazing. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the meat wasn't the best. The chicken was overcooked. However, the salsa was SOOO good and that was some of the best guacamole ever. They packed so many things- Cole slaw, homemade ranch , pico, onions, 2 salsas, corn salsa, and more! I highly recommend this for catering events. Definitely the best one of the catered "chain/franchise" Tex-Mex style restaurants“

“Great local seafood tex/mex walk up food stand essentially.Food is great, haven't had a bad thing on the menu and I've tried it all. The menu is pretty small but that keeps the service time with quick turn around. Highly recommend the the coconut rice in whatever you get.Prices are fair considering you are in central Surf City in the middle of everything touristy.Atmosphere, the seating is all outdoor covered and uncovered picnic, rail counter or small table seating. I don't know I'd say it's good for large parties and it's not a formal eating place.Highly recommend Shaka Taco, just wish the location was easier to get in and out of sometimes.Parking: There are 2 small lots for parking next to the building but they are hard to navigate if you have a large vehicle.Wheelchair accessibility: There is a handicap accessible ramp to the ordering window and they will bring your food to your table after ordering.“
