“Delectable tasty place in Wanchees. Intimidating at first as you hardly can see the open sign and when you walk in the ordering process is hard to comprehend. Walk right on through and a cashier will be on your left. Menu board straight. Seating area front and in the back past a merchandise area. Shrimpbasket is fresh and plentiful. Clambasket as well. Coleslaw creamy, French fries okay. The staff über friendly and ready to serve and help. We bypassed the dessert but were told they were all homemade. Highly recommend.“
“I wanted fresh local seafood while in OBX and found it at O’Neal’s Sea Harvest. Large assortment of fresh seafood available for purchase in their market. I highly recommend stopping by for lunch. I enjoyed my experience so much that I ate here 2 days in a row. Love the no frills, laid back atmosphere.“
“This was the best meal we have eaten in OBX in a long time. The atmosphere was fun and welcoming, and the staff were great and provided excellent service. The food was amazing and it had some of the best twist on some classic dishes. We will definitely be making this a regular stop.Overall, one of the best dining experiences in all our trips down. The chef even stopped by our table to ask how our meal was and chatted for a bit. Loved every minute of this experience.“
“*PROS* Deelish food & bev (u can't go wrong with any choice!) ?best french fries my 84 y/o Grandmother ever had! Attentive, personable server ?shout out to Patrick for taking ex-sea-lent care of us ? outside volleyball court*CONS* Long wait, music a lil loud, a pesky fly Vegetarian options: Black bean burger“
“Kid-friendliness: I highly recommend Owens for dinner. The food was delicious with generous portions. My husband had the shrimp and grits, I had seafood pasta , and my daughter had the kids chicken fingers and fries. We added two side salads. Dinner came w rolls and hush puppies. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS.the staff was soosweet, accommodating and supportive. The restaurant was beautiful and charming. We plan to go back again“
“Oh my! So fresh..so tasty. Absolutely wonderful little place. I wish I were in this area more often, because I could absolutely eat here at least 3 days a week.Cozy, fun, beachy atmosphere.I had the Tuna Pokè Bowl and oh ... The flavors blended perfectly! Yum!Everyone was so friendly and welcoming!“
“Fried oyster plate hit the spot. Fries were slightly greasier than I like, but that’s my only gripe. Oysters were delicious. Slaw was KFC style, but less sweet and lighter on the dressing, which I found to be much preferable. Service was impressive with courtesy and timeliness. The bar area had nice decor and decently comfortable stools.“
“Food is as great as the view. I got the lobster roll with cheese curds and my wife got the shrimp tacos with fries. All of it was really tasty. It was Saturday at 3pm and everything came out pretty quickly. The waitress was amazing and helpful (I can’t remember her name but tall blonde with blue eyes). Also, the coconut margarita and piña colada were great as well.“
“To begin this, me and my girlfriend go down to this area once a year and have turned it into one of our favorite traditions. Last year we saw this place but unfortunately didn't have time to make it by before leaving. The menu looked fantastic and we were so sad we didn't get to go. This year we made it a point we had to go. We went to the aquarium previously and called to verify the time they opened, and that's when we found out they start taking names an hour before opening. I'm so glad we made it a point to be there early for the list. We got there within 15 min of them taking names and got on the list and went to the around back bar, before we got our drinks we could hear the wait was already estimated at almost 90min, but it's worth it! Really nice concept by the way, with the people waiting being able to sit outside on the pier with the bar beforehand. Once they opened we were seated within about 20min and the service was phenomenal, they try to seat you by the window if possible first. Very polite and friendly staff, not to mention they are on the ball! We had drink orders and apps in within a few minutes. Both the app and the entrees were phenomenal! We had the hot crab dip appetizer and we both got the 'Tale of the Whale Special' with the only difference being that she got the standard filet and I upgraded to the 16oz Prime Rib. We could not have asked for the food quality, seasoning, and cook to be any better!! You certainly get what you pay for!! Probably my favorite meal of a week long trip and one of my favorites of 2023! Also worth noting that the way this place operates is like nothing I've seen locally, not just for us, but everyone we saw, they were constantly on top of not only service but cleaning as well. Within a few moments of someone getting up to leave the staff would come clean up, have the table reset, and someone seated seamlessly. They were so efficient that even when we left the wait hadn't gotten any longer while people were still piling in! Needless to say, we will be back next year for sure!! If I could give it 6 stars I would!“
“I'd heard great things about Greentail's from friends, and then read a great writeup about this spot in a recent issue of Our State. So, yesterday I headed to Greentail's with a friend who also enjoys checking out a new place for lunch! We loved it. The Coconut Curry Fish Soup with Dumplings was really, really tasty and I also enjoyed my Shrimp Tacos with Collards. I brought home a meal for my husband - Fried Shrimp with Coleslaw and Collards, and my friend like their Fried Fish Tacos. Portions are generous, especially sides which is rare for area restaurants. Thank you Greentail's! Greentail's is a friendly spot and the three owners are present, visible and running everything. It was fun to talk with them about the menu and they make delicious, creative food. It's nice to see not only Outer Banks Specialties but an Asian and Hawaiian influence as well. Greentail's offers fresh fish as well as prepared meals, and the spot was crowded. There's indoor and outdoor seating and the atmosphere is casual. The food is serious though - great taste, seasoning and creativity for sure. I can't wait to see what they come up with next!“
“Nicest staff ever! We were cold sitting on the deck upstairs and the hostesses were so nice about us asking to move spots. The service was phenomenal, our waitress was super sweet, and the food was incredible. We will definitely be back again next year! Also, the Creamsicle Crush was one of the best drinks I ever had.“
“Dillon was our waiter, and he really went above and beyond. His recommendations were also on point. We started with a dozen oysters (a buck a shuck). No pic, we devoured too fast, but super happy we listened to Dillon and tried the lemon honey horseradish sauce. Excellent compliment to our oysters. I got the tuna sashimi appetizer as my entree. That was awesome and PLENTY of food. The hot mustard in the coleslaw, delicate tuna, just really made it. My hubs got the seared shrimp pasta. The light cream sauce just pulled that dish together. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and the flavors delicious. We will definitely be back! Sorry for the lighting on the pics.“
“Nice people! Great steamed shrimp with seasoning! I’m a person who disliked eating shrimp unless it was breaded. Their seasoned steam shrimp will change your mind! They also have all types of peanuts and different seasonings/sauces/snacks/souvenirs/fishing gear. Get the butter toffee peanuts and chocolate covered peanuts! They also recommended the sea salt peanuts and jalapeño peanuts!“
“Amazing food. Busy place, ordered soup & salad with grilled shrimp option. the she-crab soup was full of crab and very tasty. The owner was friendly and surprised with a basket of delicious hot hush puppies. The gals like the honey cinnamon butter that accompanied them. Quite busy with sit down and take out orders. If it wasn’t raining we would have sat outside in the quaint Al fresco dining area, near the sound. The gals had the shrimp with pineapple mango sauce wrap. And a side of sweet potato fries. So good. And the homemade banana pudding. Treat yourself to a quart to go. It is worth it !“
“Every aspect of our experience here was wonderful. The hostess was very friendly on the phone and was able to get us a last minute reservation on a Saturday night. We went early to enjoy a few cocktails at the bar and we were seated moments before receiving our first drink! The cocktails were amazing and the service was even better. Our waitress (I unfortunately can’t remember her name even though she gave it) was terrific! We will definitely be back!“
“I ordered the flounder, which was good. But the true winner of this meal was the mashed sweet potatoes!! We also ordered the tiramisu. Our waiter brought that out, along with a slice of Florida sunshine cake at no extra charge! Our waiter was great, the food was tasty and the atmosphere was nice!!“
“Every time we’ve been here we’ve been impressed!! It’s a hidden gem from a lot of the touristy places on the main strip. Breakfast especially is delicious! Even while we stayed in Duck we made the drive just for the breakfast. Fresh made biscuits, hand pattied sausage! Prices are fair and portions are great for lunch dinner and breakfast. Highly recommend!!!“
“Food was great with a” fresh catch flavor, not frozen.” 2 in our party ordered the popcorn shrimp basket. Those baskets came with a lot of fries but plenty of shrimp. The other 2 in our party ordered the flounder and shrimp basket. These baskets also came with a lot of fries (mostly fries). The flounder was great (even though it’s not in season), it had a great taste! These shrimp came with tails on, (which I like) but not many of them (maybe 6-8). The shrimp in the shrimp basket and the shrimp in the flounder and shrimp combo basket had 2 very different tastes and textures. We also ordered 2 appetizers: Baked Potato Skins and Pretzel Bites. Both appetizers arrived at our table after our meal was delivered. Not a big deal, just wanted to mention this. The Pretzel Bites were everybody’s favorite. The process of eating there: when you go in the door, instead of a hostess stand, you order and pay for your food. You’ll receive your beverage cup and be on your own way to find somewhere to sit. You fix your own soft drink or tea (and get your own refills). When your food is ready, they bring your food to the table. There’s not any waitresses coming around. This is self serve, with the exception of your food being brought out. You clean your table when you leave. It’s a nice little place!Being that we’re pretty local (40min), we’ll definitely be going back.“
