Down on Mainstreet is a busy place in Downtown Washington. You can enter from the street side of the parking lot side. I lucked out and did not have to wait for a table. They have inside, bar and some outside tables in the back. The atmosphere is casual. The menu has a lot of options but I went with the Steele Burger and fries as the side. My burger was cooked to order and I liked I could pick my cheese and toppings. It was good sized and tasted great. The prices were reasonable. Being so busy it is a noisy place. Service was very friendly and efficient.

Great fried frog legs and fried oysters! The gumbo was excellent! The salmon was tender and flaky! The key lime pie was delicious! Can hardly wait to visit again. ❤️Parking: Conveniently located downtown and across from the boardwalk.
The food was great especially the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese on them I don't like pimento cheese but it was really yummy. The waitress was so nice and helpful and checked on us often I will be returning so you get me some of those great fried green tomatoes with a mini cheese on them. All the staff were friendly, and the place was very clean and people were enjoying all that good food, I would recommend it to anybody

Like the old Bob Segar song, this restaurant makes you feel right at home in the heart of Washington, NC. It's definitely a local hot spot. We had a party of five, and we were seated after a brief wait at the bar which transitioned to the back patio. The patio is exceptional. During our visit, there was a significantly large party, and it seemed to overtax the wait staff. The food was good, and a quick poll of our group resulted in favor of going back.

We showed up with a party of 8 on a Saturday at noon, we were seated at 1235 and I understand that we visited at the busiest time of the week. However, when I approached the manager at 155 pm gently asking if they might expedite our order, as my two toddlers are now late for nap time, she was incredibly nasty and argued that the ticket had only been in for 30 minutes and it was our fault that we ordered an appetizer. Our waitress then immediately came over to our table miffed and also told us that we shouldn’t have ordered an app if we didn’t want to wait for the meal. I was unaware that one order of not so great frog legs would lead to lunch being a 3 hour ordeal… I think I could forgive this if the food was excellent, but it was just okay, and the nastiness we caught from the staff and manager was inexcusable. We won’t ever be visiting this establishment again.
