So disappointing. The worst Indian I have ever had. With such a limited menu I was expecting freshly prepared and delicious! Instead the chicken curry was old & had been reheated multiple times. It would have taken 3 nans to absorb the inch of pure oil on the top of the pint size curry. Old, no flavor, truly no even an okay meal. $54 for a curry, chicken biryani and 3 nams. Save your money or spend it somewhere else.

Rather disappointing and expensive. The internet indicated one thing, but it is quite another. It’s like expecting a rather nice steak house and getting a shiny diner. The ‘Buter Chicken’ is good. Everything is a la carte and we thought the prices rather high—$66 for 2 servings of samosas, water, buter chicken, curry chicken, and raita. We got the samosas, then much later, our meat dishes and rice. I had nearly finished my meal before the naan arrived (which the waiter said was ‘on the house’). Later still, the raita arrived. We patiently waited for the waiter to return (about 20 mins), but finally, my husband had to get up and go ask for the check and a couple of boxes. I must say, we have no idea whether the bill was right or not. The waiter didn’t seem to speak English. We did not get a paper bill—he just brought the device to the table, told us how much. I looked at the machine’s screen and couldn’t figure it out. ???. The windows were dirty, and a fly tried to get us to take it home—we declined. However, it DID make me wonder about the sanitation grade.

My wife and I came for dinner here this evening, (a Saturday night.) It probably should have been a red flag that we were one of only two couples in the restaurant. All of the other restaurants in the area were packed. Although we were greeted right away, the server didn't come to the table for just shy of ten minutes. Remember, we were fifty percent of the guests there. When he finally did come by, we ordered the Samoa (sic), lamb curry, butter chicken and an order of buttered naan. The Samoa was very good. It was spicy and temperature was hot. That was the end of the good part. The lamb curry and butter chicken were nearly nondescript in terms of flavor. The gravy that they both came in could best be described as doctored Campbell's Soup, except Campbell's has a lot more flavor. The portions were very, very small. The server only came over to drop off about a half ounce of rice pudding for each of us. It was good. As we were finishing, he brought over the naan we had ordered. I don't know whether it had been forgotten, but it didn't do us much good at that point. The price was overpriced for what it was. Overall, I can't imagine a circumstance under which I would ever return.

My wife and I like to try new restaurants and Mystic Ginger is a hidden gem. The food was amazing and full of flavors. The perfect combination of spicy and savory and everything else that makes a perfect bite. So good we went back for a second taste before we left Winston Salem. Don't miss out!!!!

I've been to MANY Indian restaurants all over the country, this place is great and the portions are comparable to every other restaurant I've been to. The negative reviews are unnecessarily harsh and out of touch with reality. This restaurant is owned by a very kind husband and wife who do all of the work by themselves on some days and they do an amazing job.The Chicken Tikka Masala was delicious with a unique twist on the original dish. The naan was great and the rice pudding dessert was a perfect compliment to finish the meal. I absolutely loved the homemade hot chai tea as well.If you like to support small family owned independent businesses then this place would be a great choice for you to dine at.Thank you Naz, you're a great chef and host and super sweet person!

Delicious food, friendly service! Best Indian food in W-S! Absolutely recommend Mystic Ginger!

The food is amazing!! FYI they are pretty short staffed, but that is in no way a detriment to their establishment, rather it is a testament to how wonderful their food remains to be and how hard they work to serve their customers. I have requested things that are not on the menu and the owner has graciously accommodated me. Very kind staff and great food!

Had dinner at Mystic Ginger during overnight stay in Downtown Winston. The owner/chef was very hospitable. The butter chicken was some of the best my wife and I have ever had. It was different than most other Indian restaurants we’ve been to, but in a very good way. The butter sauce did not seem as tomato-forward as others. The Garlic and Butter naan were very nice and light. The owner even gave us a sampling of a new rice pudding recipe she was working on and it was delicious. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Winston. Highly recommend.

A tiny small restaurant that you really don't pay attention to when you walk by....but walking by would be a mistake. The food was fabulous!!! Im traveling and just happened to see it when I drove by. I asked the hotel clerk about it and he said he had take out from there several times. I thought "why not". Im so glad I did. Really fresh and well prepared. The woman who worked there and prepared the food was super friendly. If I come back to Winston Salem, I'll definitely stop here!

The food is delicious and well priced with large portions. With my family being from Pakistan, I'm grateful for a chance to get desi food, and the owners are kind enough to often give me extra and make the food fresh according to custom suggestions I have.I personally ask for potato in my chicken biryani, for example. And when I ask for samosa chaat, they make it fresh so as to be as crispy as possible.Edited on January 13, 2022:They now have these VERY delicious flaky and light puri.

Have you ever been to a place that made you so sick that you felt vengeful? That's this place. After seeing some great pictures and a menu online, we went. When we arrived, we waited for quite a while before we were even given a menu. The menu that we were given was extremely minimal. We joked that perhaps the lack of people there was a bad sign. We tried to work with it anyway. We ordered the chicken tikka masala and chicken curry. The chicken chicken masala was warm, not hot. It was also strangely runny. I've never had it like that. The portion size seemed really small. The husband and wife team who ran the place seemed indifferent about our existence. They weren't outright hostile, but it wasn't a friendly atmosphere. Around the time that we paid the bill, the stomach pain started. I now seem to have the symptoms of food poisoning. Avoid this place. There are several decent Indian places in Winston. This isn't one of them.

$17 for a half filled 12 oz container of vindaloo, what a jip...*Originally 5⭐'s but this recent to-go order changes that.Tikka Masala was watery, bland, and cold... not room temp but legitimately cold. Pretty sure someone just didn't cook that pan sauce down at all. It was like a bowl of soup with 8 small pieces of chicken.Lamb Vindaloo was INCREDIBLY small. This is my favorite dish from Mystic but this was just sad. And just like the other dish....cold. It tasted amazing, as usual.I understand that it's a to-go order but it wasn't quite ready when we got there and were home in less than 10 minutes but it still should've been warm had it been prepared properly.I know times are tough and food is expensive. I expect and gladly pay for well made food. We tip 30-35% every time, even in to-go orders. Those portions were so small I almost felt like I'd been swindled.

The food here is good, solid, and tasty Indian food. The owner is sweet and kind and I think she is trying her best to rebuild and innovate with the times. I got the butter chicken which was delicious and flavorful. The garlic naan just left me with more to be desired. I do plan to come back and dine in for my next experience.

We had an outstanding meal here tonight. Very authentic. The lady that cooked our food told us about how they toast and mix their own spices. Very good portions. Soft, warm naan. Can't wait to eat here again.
