Playa Azul delivers a fantastic dining experience! Delicious food, a charming atmosphere, and exceptional service make it a must-visit. The waiter's expertise added to the enjoyment, especially with the fantastic Birria Tacos. Just watch out for the fiery red sauce; the green is a winner! The ACP with shrimp is also highly recommended.

Best beef fajitas I ever had - lick the plate delicious ! That's what we get every time, so I can't comment on other dishes. The chips and salsa are very good too.

We were busy running errands on Sunday and were looking for a new to us lunch spot in the area. We've seen Playa Azul many times when shopping at Lowes Foods so we decided to stop in. We arrived shortly after they opened and were greeted immediately and taken to a booth. The server provided us menus and took our drink orders. When we arrived there was only one other table seated. The menu is HUGE! Almost too huge for us, it was hard to make a decision. We also question if a restaurant with such a large menu can possibly offer fresh ingredients when the menu is SOOOO big. We did notice they offer lunch specials even on the weekend which is always appreciated. We were brought a basket of chips and salsa for the table. The chips were warm and the salsa was just they way I prefer it, not chunky. Honestly, we looked over the menu for probably 10 minutes before making our decisions. My wife decided on the La Ixtapa which features steak, chicken, shrimp and sausage. Served with tortillas and rice and beans which we requested double rice, no beans. I ordered the Chile Colorado, also double rice, no beans. While we were munching on our chips another set of customers arrived and were seated. Our food arrived in a timely manner and looked good. My wife's also came on a sizzling plate which she always enjoys. She decided to ask for a side of guacamole to enjoy with her protein and the young woman brought it quickly which she appreciated. My plate had the double rice, no beans but my wife's did not, it was the standard beans and rice but we opted not to bring it to their attention and just eat the rice. I enjoyed my meal but thought the sauce had way to much cinnamon spice. I recognize that some recipes call for cinnamon in Chile Colorado but I've never had such a strong cinnamon taste before and I've ordered Chile Colorado many times. Our server checked on us throughout and we felt adequately taken care of. Overall the experience was okay but we will continue to go to one of our other favorite spots when we are craving Mexican food.

My husband and I have been here many times. Food never disappoints. Service is always friendly and fast. They also have great margaritas.

Great food and drinks. Stopped in for lunch and had a special and a michelada and it was all good. I'll definitely be back.

I am here nearly daily during the week. Food is excellent, prices are great, and portions are exactly as one would expect. There is an obvious difference in the food depending on who is cooking that day, like anywhere else, but 95% of the time it is as expected. Service is killer, even the "lesser" waiters are going to do just fine.

YES! This is the NC style Tex Mex I’ve been looking for. Great service from Edgar, he was so helpful in helping us order and keeping our drinks filled. The queso fundido had great flavor and big chunks of grilled sausage - my FAVE! ACP tejuano and fajitas were amazing. The shrimp were so well cooked. And the prices are cheaper than worse places nearby! Love this place.

Y’all must be trippin or have not had real tacos and Mexican food, because this is not a 4.5 star Mexican place. At best 2. The steak tacos were dry almost rubbery, the birria tacos had so much grease! The limes were dry had no juice in them.. the green salsa was like one bought in ingles or your local super market. I will tell y’all don’t waste your time. This is a “” best option in the area” type of deal. My stomach hurts from all to is grease! Way over priced for tacos tbh. That part I understand.

Good food, BUT the server tried to take my baby away & touched his face without my consent, when I told her to no touch my baby please, she had an attitude with me and my family, She didn't offer any more drinks, she didn’t talk to us anymore til she bring the check. For me is very disrespectful to touch a baby that’s not yours even more in the face.
