Took so long to get us seated, take our order, bring the food. Advertised buffet was not available. Fast breakfast took us more than 1 hour. They need to hire more people. Really, if staying at the hotel, drive elsewhere to take breakfast.

Every review that talks about how this breakfast buffet is overpriced is completely right. This buffet is what would be free at any other hotel. The quality of the food is nothing more than a continental free breakfast at a motel. We were a party of five including one child with coffees, orange juice and four adult buffets and one child. Our bill exceeded $70 for what was worth less than $20 (and no, that is not an exaggeration). Do yourself a favor and go to a restaurant and get your money's worth. For the price that you are paying at this hotel, especially if you are in a suite, the rate of this breakfast should be free and included with the room. The actual restaurant was clean and nice and the service was very attentive and great, the food was a completely different story.

The current reviews posted of this establishment do not reflect my experience! The food was excellent and tasted fresh. Nile also provided great customer service. It’s nice to have a full service restaurant in your hotel, but it’s even better when that is accompanied by a positive experience.

I gave this overpriced pompous purveyor of swill 1 * only because it won't allow me to give them a negative star. When we visited it was on Christmas and I'm sure nobody wanted to be there. But if they're going to have the doors open they need to provide better food than you can get in a Frozen TV dinner. And that is not hyperbole that is a fact. The salad bar was okay the desert bar was absolutely a travesty. There was pecan pie and it was just a mockery of that Southern dish. The main food bar had a decent selection however the quality was extraordinary poor. The stuffing, the turkey the meatballs literally everything else was absolutely dry and flavorless. And what's was the price for this swill? Over $100. For 2 adults and 2 children. Understand that is not a bad price for a good meal in a quality restaurant. If ever I find myself in Grand Forks ND staying at the Canad inns on Christmas again I will be sure to grab a couple of cans of spam and a loaf of bread from a culinary standpoint it would be a much more desirable fair then what you will get at Aaltos.

This is based on a pre-covid trip to this restaurant. It's located in the Canad Inns hotel in Grand Forks. Plenty of seating and friendly staff. The breakfast/ brunch buffet was a good value for guests. Served hot and fresh, with a nice variety/ selection available. All your breakfast basics, and including brunch favorites like fried chicken and meatballs. Fried chicken was tasty with a nice crisp. Meatballs were good as well. Nice atmosphere to start your day.

Clean, but food has no taste. Tasteless really. Service is below par. Coffee refills take forever. People seem nice, but place is just lifeless. Sad really.

The food had no flavor. A regrettable choice. Should have gone out and bought donuts and milk for the family. Would have saved $60 and been much happier.

Just awful. Buffet was reasonably priced, but flavorless. Two-thirds of the tables were covered with unbussed dishes. Never seen anything like it.

Flavorless food. Unbussed tables everywhere. This is what happens when owners don't care enough to actively manage their investmemts. Would have been far happier buying donuts and milk and eating in the disaster Canad inns calls a hotel room then pay $80 for a bland meal surrounded by garbage.

We had to pay before we were seated. Not a big deal. I've paid before eating at many other buffet style restaurants. We entered the restaurant to find a table. All of the empty tables still needed to be bused. We waited to have a table cleaned off, but ended up clearing off our own table to seat ourselves. The buffet was incredibly weak. I'm positive that I have not been to a buffet before that had less items (less than 10) to chose from than what we did during this visit to Aaltos. Two guys looked very busy as they tried to clean tables as quickly as they could. Being disappointed, I requested to speak to the manager. I was told by the cashier that they didn't have a manager. This did not surprise me, but added to my disappointment. I was referred to a "shift supervisor." This young man had his hands full. He was one of the guys busing tables as quickly as he could. I'm very sorry that he had to deal with my disappointment. I will say that he handled himself much better than I handled myself. I'm also disappointed in the fact that Aaltos didn't even have a manager overseeing this operation. I asked to speak with the GM of Canad Inn about this and ended up speaking to the assistant GM. He apologized for about our experience and told me that they were in the process of trying to find a manager for Aaltos. Find a manager? And there you have it...... without leadership, who leads? I hope that they can find someone to turn this place around. Aaltos has amazing potential, they just need to find that person that is going to turn things around for the better. At this point in time... it may have to be the GM and/or the Asst. GM.

The one star is purely for the chilli my son had and said was really good. We came to the restaurant around 10am, stood at the entryway for a few minutes, and by a few, I mean a little while. I actually was looking around for posted hours, thinking it was closed. Finally was greeted and sat. We placed our drink orders, and was given drinks quickly. Ask our waitress (The Supervisor per her name tag) poured my coffee, she makes a 'ugh' sound. She excuses herself to get me good coffee, as she says that coffee was 'no good'. We the order the lunch buffet, which is soup and salad. 3 soups, chili, minestrone and chicken noodle. Salad bar, could have been noted to be pretty nice, if there was more than a cup worth of each side put out. As noted my son loved the chilli. My other son wouldn't touch his chicken noodle soup and I spit out half of the sides on my plate. Chicken noodle soup -over cooked by days, noodles were falling apart. Sides - either noteabley very old, under cooked or tasted off. Crackers used for soup - rancid. YES spoiled and smelly. No wonder my youngest son wouldn't eat his most favorite soup. I requested my bill, only agreeing to pay for 1 buffet, since my son did like and eat his chilli. Initially she was going to credit us 7 buck. Leaving the bill still at 30. Uh, no. No. No. No. I paid for 1, which was still 12 buck and way too much for 1 cup of chilli. She did ask if we wanted a meal cooked in the kitchen and brought out, I said no. I couldn't trust the cook staff enough to try. This place also offers a 3.99 breakfast buffet in the mornings, which I am not brave enough to try out. Sucks because we're staying at the connecting hotel for a week.
