We decided to try the burritos at El Gordito this evening. Two things that drew me there is the promise of authentic Mexican food and, they have a drive through! We decided to try the El Pastor (pork) and the chicken. When I was handed the bag, I could tell there was a lot of food in there from the weight of it. I requested both hot and mild salsas. My wife said she really liked the mild green salsa and, I liked the hot and spicy red. The burritos are a definite two-hander! My wife decided to put hers on a plate and eat it with a fork. She managed to eat half and the other half is in the fridge for tomorrow. I managed to eat the whole thing but, feel just a bit over full. I really think we could order one and split it. The flavor was pretty good! Way better than what you would get at a place like Taco John's. It was good and hot temperature wise also. Over all, I will recommend them highly. I think I will try their Popusas next time. I see several items on their menu I will order in the future.

The rice and taco plate is so good. And on Wednesdays it's only $7.99. 3 tacos and rice. Also the fresh salsa is amazing. The spicy guac salsa is delicious. I highly recommend.

Small place, crowded environment and such AMAZING food! Orlando was working hard up front taking orders and handing them out. He had such patience for us as new customers. Love the different spice level options too.

I've lived in Arizona and Texas, spent much time in California, and have traveled much of Mexico and Latin America. Ever since moving to Grand Forks, I've been praying for more Mexican restaurants to open as it's my favorite cuisine. If this restaurant was anywhere in the locations I listed above, it'd be shut down very quickly from no business. I ordered the enchilada plate with a large side of rice. The rice was not good at all, and tasted either store bought or overcooked. The enchiladas had a hard, gross cheese on top (At first I thought it was Oaxaca cheese, but this cheese tastes nothing like that) and the enchilada sauce (if you can call it that) was dry and very thick. The meat inside of the enchiladas was way too over-seasoned. The only redeeming quality about this place are the tacos, but everything else appears to be lackluster. Would only recommend the tacos. UPDATE: Came here a day after to see if they can redeem themselves. I found out that they do, in fact, sell horchata. I was so excited! Maybe this would be redeeming quality #2 about this place I thought. Immediately no. I can recognize this horchata anywhere. This horchata is specifically the powdered, bagged Klass horchata that is sold at Walmart down the street for $2.87 that makes a whole pitcher. Unless you are wanting Walmart-bought ingredients that are mediocrely put together, avoid this place. Worst Mexican food in town.
