Delicious neighborhood restaurant. Stopped in for breakfast, pretty crowded on a Tuesday morning. The chicken fried steak was one of the best I've had in ages. Hash browns were solidly crispy. Prices are reasonable. Interior is on the comfy homey side of restaurants. I'd definitely go back.

You might see your neighbor, your friends, or your teacher from 30 years ago at The Special. Those things are special to me when I choose to dine out in Bellevue. This place absolutely rocks and Bellevue is really lucky to have such a fantastic restaurant run by even more amazing people! The food is delicious, priced fairly, and portion sizes are wonderful in today’s world. If you come here you won’t regret it and will walk out with a full belly and a smile on your face. As long as I live close enough to drive in for breakfast or lunch, I’ll be a customer for life!

I have not tried all the dishes there but I would love to! This restaurant is at the top of my list for breakfast dining!!!!!! P.S., please keep the chefs who cook the food happy!!!! No shade to the older generation but where there's older people the food is usually GOOD!!! My assumption was correct!! I got the chicken fried chicken and gravy it comes with eggs cooked to your liking with hashbrowns and butter biscuit. My food was cooked to perfection, well seasoned and came out pretty fast. It was delicious!!! The place has an old school feel to it, clean and friendly staff. They even have a private event room which I thought was pretty neat. Whats even better is how affordable it is.I definitely recommend 8/10

Man, oh man! When I tell you this was the best, most satisfying meal I had on our entire 4 day road trip, it’s the truth! I love a good unassuming diner that serves up great food. We stopped in for brunch, and got there about 30 minutes before close. Breanna was our server and was super helpful with my gluten / dairy free needs; I originally planned to order the gluten free French toast but she informed me it was made with milk and advised I order the plain GF toast instead. I was fine with that and asked for no butter, and she went out of her way to find out that the butter was actually canola based and dairy free so I got to indulge in some yummy, “buttery” GF toast! The food came out quick, hot, and delicious. I love a good classic breakfast. What a pleasant surprise!! The only downside of my experience is that I live 7.5 hours away and will be dreaming of eating breakfast here until I get to return one day. Thank you, the Special Restaurant!!

Very very disappointed on my order on 2-29-24. My husband and I and a friend went there for lunch. I ordered the Hot Roast Beef Dinner and the meat was so “tough” that I could barely cut it with a knife! And it was crazy, a couple ladies seated next to us both ordered the same thing and only barely ate 1/2 of their orders! I said something to them when we got ready to leave, and they said yes the roast beef was horrible! I ended up only eating a couple of bites of mine and brought the rest home for my husband. He is eating it now as we speak and “agreed” it is very tough!My husband and I have been 3-4 to the restaurant and was always please with what we ordered (mostly breakfast). Not sure I will be coming back anytime soon.

It's your classic American diner. If you're in Bellevue this is a great spot to visit. Similar to Lisa's radial cafe downtown. If you're not in Bellevue I wouldn't say there's any special reason to come here, but if you do expect good food and good service.
