Very overpriced. The sandwich I ate, had hardly any meat on it at all. For 14$ I expected a decent sandwich. I got a small sandwich with not much on it. Bread was not soft. Won’t go here again. People working were very friendly.

The food was amazing. Great friendly service. I had the pastrami sandwich.(a little heavy handed with mustard, but that's ok)I grew in up in Brooklyn so I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to deli food. However, it tasted great nice soft fresh rye awesome sandwich. My wife had the matza ball soup which she really enjoyed. She also had the meatball sub which she enjoyed a great deal as well. GO TO THERE!!!!

Picked up the take and bake lasagna and it was delicious. Portion size for the 13 bucks was incredibly reasonable. Plenty of food for the wife and I. Will be back to try the enchiladas and to get the lasagna again. Also looking forward to trying some of the sandwiches when I get the opportunity.

Recommendation to stop here was on point. Quick friendly service and amazing meatball sandwich!! Paired with a drink next door is a great way to kickoff the Holidays.

A great little stop for a quick lunch. I had the club with the garlic + cheese upgrade. The bread was warm and soft and sandwich ingredients were all delicious. Really loved the addition of garlic. Will def be back to try daily specials and pastrami.

Enjoyed an unusual dish (beef and cabbage soup) and a classic (roast beef with gravy and mashed potatoes). Both were excellent, as was the friendly, personable service!

New manager, new menu, terrific food!!!New manager has revamped Phyll's and it is so so so tasty! We had the special of the day - hot roast beef sandwich - sooooo good. Also had the soup du jour - hamburger cabbage soup. The ingredients were just right and it was served up hot. Highly recommend you check out this little gem.

We used to love this place. It had the best sandwiches in Omaha, and it felt like real New York deli quality. After trying to visit a few times and seeing a closed sign on the door, we were delighted to see that it had reopened.Unfortunately, management has changed and so has the food. Nothing even came close to what old Phyl’s had.

Amazing little shop! Definitely get your order to go, or eat outside on the patio. So much food, and so good! The au jus is drinkable. I forgot to order a pickle, and a little disappointed we missed the matzo ball soup last week, but a great reason to go back!

Here's the thing. If we are tired of chain restaurants (and I am), we're going to have to support our local businesses. And that may mean paying a bit more. As long as said business upholds its end of the bargain by giving us a great experience, I am ready to dig deeper into my wallet. Phyl's is a bit pricey, but the pastrami I got was very good (8.6/10). A very well-stacked sandwich that filled me up. The chili was also very good (9/10) - and I'm a chili-snob. Service was eclectic and friendly. Atmosphere was a bit of an issue as I sat outside and had to interact with one of the Old Market's "characters" (not a big deal for me, but it might be unsettling for the uninitiated). HIGHLIGHT: The chili. LOWLIGHGHT: I would have liked some more interesting pop/drink options. SUPRISE: I was suspicious of portion sizes when I walked in but the sandwich was plentiful and I definitely got my "Phyl" (wink). PRICE: They don't have a dollar-menu. But that's a good thing. RETURN VISIT: Sure.

I visited today with my family after hearing great things about Phyl's. My parents, who both went to school in New York, were excited to try a Nebraska-based NY Deli. I had high expectations that unfortunately were not met. These sandwiches were so overflowing with toppings that it would be impossible to pick them up and eat them. The roast beef on mine was ok, but lacking flavor. The hatch cheese sauce was good, and the peppers had a lot of flavor. The hoagie bun was nothing to write home about and flavorless. The biggest disappointment was the horseradish aïoli. The employees let us know that they were out of horseradish aïoli, but they were going to whip up a new batch if we didn't mind waiting a little longer, which we didn't. However, there was absolutely no horseradish flavor in this dressing and I hate plain mayo, so that was a huge disappointment to me.The chili was delicious!Overall, this wasn't a bad sandwich, but I have no desire to return.
