They really have to rename this business. So, we booked this tour at least a month in advance. We saw all kinds of food options, but no way of ordering/pre- ordering or so ever. We got on this train at 9am. By 11am seemed like all train was eating, but us and another 6 people around us. Guess why! Cuz we didn't preorder! Waitress ignored us. I went and talk to the guy who was putting together what they call "lunch boxes", he said we can order from the waitress. Good luck. I looked at those lunch boxes .. difficult to call that a food. Well .. this trip is not over yet. If i survive it, I'll finish this review. So far... Not impressed. Not even a little. Oh, and it's freezing in this train!

This was our first time on this dinner train through Crawford Notch. What amazing views and fantastic dinner. Thanks to Haig our conductor who made sure we were comfortable and provided for. Thanks also to Jenn and Pat our waitresses who were excellent. Thanks to all for continuing to provide opportunities for couples and families to witness God's creation through the train rides.

We took the 5 hour mountaineer a month ago on the Conway Scenic Railroad. We opted for first class and a cold boxed lunch. You can't bring your own food on the train. They have you over a barrel. For $25 per person, you would think that you would get better than a hard roll with 2 tiny turkey slices and 1 very browned piece of lettuce, a small bag of chips and a package of Oreos. Absolutely zero effort went into making those sandwiches and it showed. Our waitress was excellent. She was attentive and a pleasure to chat with. What conway scenic railroad does not tell you is that gratuities aren't included in your fees for your food that you must pay in advance. I was absolutely appalled that the caterer snagged the tip for our waitress off our table.

Alot of fun, great ride aboard a 120 year old train! Lunch was alright; I didnt love the options and I enjoyed the salad and dessert more than the entree. But overall was a pleasant experience!

While the people, depot, gift shop, and servers on the dining car were all great, the dining car train ride was disappointing. The advertised 55 minute ride included 15 minutes of being stopped before returning to the depot.

Dining first class on the Conway Scenic Railroad is like being royalty during the heyday of rail travel. The dining car is well appointed and comfortable. The service really could not be better. The bartender was very generous pouring a taste of bourbon. The food was great with a number of selections. If you have special requests they are very accommodating. I would highly recommend adding this to your trip.

We really appreciate this review. Our dining car staff love what they do and go out of their way to accommodate our guests. It's nice to know that their efforts are appreciated. Susan Logan Marketing Manager CSRR

I've already written a lengthy review for the Railroad, but I am writing one here to just that people know how VERY BAD it was. BAD FOOD, COLD FOOD, took a very long time to get served, they ran out of certain foods half way through the trip.It is not worth the price! Don't go!

Wonderful lunch. And our server could not do enough for us. Made us feel special. The train ride was just long enough. Beautiful scenery, and the commentary was very informative.

Saturday night's dinner was a disaster. We were short-staffed, and everything that could possibly go wrong, did. I've apologized to Ashley and several others for their bad experience, one that is not typical of our operations. Susan Logan Marketing Manager CSRR

If you want to experience something different and fun, try taking a ride on a train and eating at the same time. The menu is limited to a few selections, but both times we wentmeals were good. It is kind of pricey but I thought it was worth it.

The food options on the dining car of the Conway Scenic Railroad were perfect, the quality was great, and the service was truly amazing. Everyone working there loved their jobs, had time and interest to speak with you, and were very knowledgeable!

It was a really neat experience to have dinner in the dome car on the Bartlett train, but the food is better at McDonald's! Started with a Caesar salad, that has crisp romaine and nice cheese. They couldn't tell me if the dressing had fish in it, so I skipped out due to potential allergen issue. They really are not capable of accommodating any dietary restrictions or alternatives for allergens. Our waitress was pleasant, but we felt like service was rushed, as even though we ordered a bottle of wine almost as soon as we sat down, it didn't come out until after the salad/soup course. We both had steak tips, and we're informed we could not request any specific level of doneness, and that they were all served "Medium" and there were no alternatives to the bland potatoes and undercooled broccoli served with every dish. We can't eat potatoes, and my fiance gas severe gastric issues with undercooked broccoli, and despite knowing these things well in advance, no alternatives were offered. They ask for allergens / dietary restrictions when you book, but the bottom line is they don't care and make no attempts to accommodate. The steak tips came out beyond well done, they were tough and dry. We couldn't eat the deserts, and again due to dietary restrictions, and no alternatives were offered and no accommodations attempted. Overall, it was a neat ride, but we ended up having to get a second dinner afterwards. For the price they charge, they really need to step up their food quality and service.

We have gone on the lunch train 3 yrs in a row now..The food is fabulous. Not that scenic on the short rides, but since the food is sooooo good, we feel it beats going into a regular restaurant.. Train ride with lunch.
