Wished I could give it less but the waiter said thank you when I was leaving. There is no chicken in any of the battered chicken dishes. I suspect it's the same for any of the other similar dishes. No knife was served with large pieces of food. Only flavor is in the spice which I choked on. This is a no go.

Mei Wei....where do I even start? Mei; That name reminded me of my late wife (May). She was a Vietnamese firecracker from Phuoc Hua, a small village outside of Ho Chi Minh City. She was the light of my life and when I lost her, the world went still, I lost that light. I traveled the world searching for it. I scoured high and low for something to take me back to that time and restore me to my old self. I almost lost faith until I stumbled upon Mei Wei. My granddaughter goes to UNH and she took me and her father there for a dinner date and it was eye opening. The food was delicious, it fueled my imagination and my heart. The Pork Lo Mein was so delectable that it almost brought a tear to my eye. Finally, sushi was to die for and it was definitely the highlight of the meal. Mei Wei gave me something that no other place, thing or person ever had since I lost my dear May. Mei Wei brought my light back. It gets my ultimate endorsement and I am eternally grateful for this small restaurant tucked away in Durham.

Don't recommend. I ordered take out said ready in 15 I showed up exactly 15 minutes I don't want my food getting cold (I live only few minutes away) and my food was already bagged and ready. Cool no wait that's like perfect timing. I get in car and pop it open, to steal a spare rib (usually a fave anywhere I go) it's not cold but it's not warm. Same with rice. Chicken finger were placed in a bag those were luke warm. The lo mein though was super hot. And Rangoon were ok temp too. Typically a little warmer but no complaints on those.A break down from not so good to the recommendations if you do decide to eat here anyways. (Just don't expect much Chinese food flavor)The rice zero flavor for pork fried rice very very bland and not hot not even warm. Should have looked at color of it and known it would lack any taste. The spare ribs needed to be cooked longer like quite a bit longer, the normal Chinese spare rib flavor was missing. Maybe a lack of marinating. The texture just was off too.The chicken fingers were ok at best. combo came with 4, 1 was super skinny. It lacked any crisp to the breading. It wasn't soggy it was dry but felt like they were too soft but weren't dough. They were cooked but maybe needed longer? Or a higher temp I'm not sure. They did taste better without their duck sauce. Now the lo mein was very hot when I got home which was great... but the veggies were off the green leave in it looked and tasted like a wilted salad and under cooked, sautéing them longer would have helped I believe or were they just not fresh. The noodles were so bland and plain. But theni got some from the bottom and they tasted alot better and had some flavor to them. Put the cover on and flipped it over and shook it. The liquid that was all in the bottom of the container cover the noodles and have some flavor. I picked around the vegetables. And ate some noodles. I've never had to this any other place usually the flavor is cooked into the noodles I guess. This all the flower was in the bottom of the container. Was the soy sauce added after it had been sitting. Or had my food been sitting a while. I'm unsure but order just the noodles skip the veggies and shake up your container before you even try it.Now the Crab Rangoons were an ok temp when I got home and they had alot of flavor. It's the 1 thing I would order again. From here. I did end up eating all 4 of those. They were packed full. These were great. These are the shining point and if you order here eat these.Parking: Lots of parking!

Being new to the area, there is a lot of experimentation I've gone through looking for delicious places to eat. I am delighted to share that Mei Wei is going to be one of my go-to's moving forward. The service was exceptional, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect to wind down after a stressful few hours at work. A fun piece about the atmosphere I appreciated was that they were playing piano covers of modern radio songs, which was a nice background that was simple, however engaging.

Worst take out food EVER. I've never had anything this awful. The spicy chicken looks nothing like the photo used on the Door Dash app. It came dry, like it had been languishing under a heat lamp for hours. Same goes for the chicken wing, spare rib, and egg roll appetizer. The rice was very good, thank goodness, but the write up for the food I ordered doesn't mention that it comes with rice, so I ordered a serving of rice (only large was available, no small portion) so I have enough rice to feed a family of 8. All said and done, this was a very expensive way to find out I should never order from this restaurant again. It's hard to believe they'd send out anything this dry and stale to a paying customer.

Because this restaurant is located in Durham and it is always busy, I'm not surprised at how good the food was or how reasonable the prices were. The service was excellent, food was outstanding as was the luncheon menu selection. I don't know anywhere that you're going to get a huge portion of General Tso's, a huge bowl of pork fried rice and an appetizer for $8.99? An extra appetizer was an additional $1.50. They have a huge selection of entrees on the dinner menu that I'm looking forward to trying as well.

It's good, quick service and good portions where you can get Chinese dishes and sushi too. We have always had good food here, good prices too, as they are near UNH and poor college kids. Our out of state college kids like to come back to eat here when back in town.

I had the best food and service! They called to let me know I ordered a dish containing an ingredient indicated as an allergy. I was so thankfu, and I was able to update my order. I would've given five stars even if they didn't call as what I could have was amazing!! Thank you, Mei Wei!! It's extraordinary that you took the time to check on a busy night!Vegetarian options: Steamed vegetables and tofu (bean curd) is greatDietary restrictions: Steamed vegetables and tofu (bean curd) is great and can be made gluten free
