Absolutely delicious meal and wonderful experience. We made an 8pm reservation and were seated by 7:55. We were here celebrating our anniversary, and could not have chosen a better spot. Matthew, our server, was extremely knowledgeable about the food and drinks menu and provided us with AMAZING service. Raspberry margarita was phenomenal, hot and dirty martini was perfectly made. We started with the bacon wrapped scallops, which were divine. Both of our steaks were perfectly cooked and extremely flavorful. The daily vegetables were fresh, and the potatoes delicious. We opted to get the mac and cheese with lobster, which was delicious, and the asparagus with hollandaise, which was awesome as well. All in all, for 2 of us, we spent under $250 before gratuity. Although expensive for 2 people, this was expected and well worth the price for the food & experience. Most certainly will be back for another occasion!Parking: Plenty of options! Street parking is risky, but usually available. However, they provide valet services so no need to worry!

As a discerning patron who appreciates fine dining experiences, I had the grave misfortune of entrusting my son's graduation celebration to the utterly incompetent hands of the Hanover Street Chophouse. What ensued was a calamitous display of disregard for customer service and a complete abandonment of basic professional etiquette to at least provide basic communication that you were unable to support my reservation.Months in advance, I took the responsible step of making reservations at Hanover Street Chophouse, eager to secure a memorable evening for my family to celebrate my son's academic achievement. However, instead of the courtesy one might expect from a reputable establishment, I was met with silence. No confirmation. No follow-up. Not even a modicum of respect to inform me that they were unable to accommodate my reservation. The egregious negligence displayed by Hanover Street Chophouse not only left my family in a state of disarray but also forced us into a desperate scramble to salvage what should have been a joyous occasion. But alas, the damage was done. With all other respectable dining options in town fully booked due to the impending graduation season, we were left with limited alternatives, none of which could match the caliber of what Hanover Street Chophouse purported to offer. This appalling lack of accountability and professionalism exhibited by Hanover Street Chophouse not only soured what should have been a celebratory event but also reflects poorly on their establishment as a whole. It is utterly unconscionable for a restaurant of their supposed stature to treat customers with such flagrant disrespect and disregard. In conclusion, I would caution anyone considering patronizing Hanover Street Chophouse to think twice before placing their trust and hard-earned money in the hands of an establishment that clearly lacks the most fundamental principles of customer service. My son's graduation celebration was marred by their incompetence, and it is my sincerest hope that others do not suffer the same fate.

This is most definitely an upscale fine dining restaurant. You need a reservation, valet parking, food & service are divine. It was our first time here and we will most definitely be back for another special occasion. It will hurt your wallet but it is worth every penny. You will not be disappointed.

I wanted this to be a great meal, as i am always on the lookout for quality restaurants. Unfortunately the search goes on. Our service was poor (bad attitude, not attentive) and believe it or not servers during the course of our meal dropped three, yes THREE, trays of food. It was not our food on any of the occasions but it made the atmosphere feel like an amateur production. The most disappointing aspect of the meal was the steak. I ordered a $82 porter house that was the night’s special. It arrived with absolutely no sear on it and while it looked like it was cooked to the desired temp (medium rare) it was as tough and dry as an old boot! I have never eaten a steak with less flavor in my life. I honestly thought it must have been previously frozen bc it did not have an OUNCE of juice in it. How they achieved this I’ll never know.I eat at other steak houses in Boston (Ruth’s Chris, Capital Grill) and don’t mind paying for great food, but this was a real disappointment.

I feel like I’m between a rock and a hardplace writing this review, as I’ve been a regular patron to The Hanover Street Chophouse for over 15 years and The Crown since they opened, where most of my experiences have been positive, including employee service, interactions and food; however, my limits include the threat of physical harm as being something I have ZERO TOLERANCE for, and cannot believe the valet person responsible for behaving this way towards a customer is still employed at such an upscale establishment.I reported the scenario to the manager and owner; the owner came over to my table the time I ate at The Hanover Street Chophouse prior to this incident, to say hello to his friend I was dining with on that evening.Allegedly, I hadn’t tipped the valet guy “The last three times I was there…”I tried to calmly explain that I hadn’t been there in the days he remembered, and that it wasn’t me, because the friend of the owner I dined with drove last time and I watched her tip THAT GUY!He proceeded to become hostile, arrogant, intimidating, and rude. Not that it should matter, but my brother had just passed away and this is THE LAST thing I needed that night.Violence is unacceptable, anywhere! And, especially not acceptable at a resturaunt that serves dishes a la carte!!Maybe I’ll go somewhere where I feel safe instead…

We’ve been here a few times and last night was an underwhelming experience that will make me think twice before going back. We got seated between a table of 6 and a table of 8, even though there were other booths opened. We got meatball appetizer, that was delicious. The sauce was thick, sweet, and very palatable. We also ordered truffle tots, but they came out cold, not even remotely warm, COLD. We also ordered the seared scallops and butternut squash risotto, which was delectable, no complaints there. For sides we ordered one Mac and cheese with lobster, and one Mac and cheese with truffle. Those were decent. However, the server wasn’t as tentative to us as he was to the table of 8 beside us, which I thought was very unprofessional of him. He didn’t come by to ask if we wanted another drink during the meal. It didn’t completely ruin the night but we were still patrons that deserve service like everyone else. We took a good amount of leftovers home, which we always like to savor the next day. However, to our surprise when we got home, the waiter completely forgot to pack our truffle Mac and cheese that I was looking forward to enjoying the most the next day. We barely touched it at the restaurant so basically we paid for a whole dish that was thrown away. We ordered the limoncello creme brûlée for dessert and it was under par. The cookies and creme cheesecake to go was also mediocre, nothing of note. This will probably be our last time at HSC because we would much rather spend our money elsewhere for a better experience.

Had my birthday dinner here and not only was the restaurant itself amazing but the staff and food were incredible as well. Our waitress, I believe her name is Sidney, was spectacular! She was so kind and personable and just so amazing at her job. Please give her the raise she deserves! Also best carrot cake I’ve ever had!!

I give this traditional steak house a weak 5. It could be soooo much better. Located in a dicey section of town, they offer valet parking, which is appreciated. Traditional steak house decor with animal and hunt prints on the walls (nothing showing real hunting because that would no non-PC these days). Dark wood, somber lighting. Great cocktail menu not priced too bad. We arrived early yet still were seated 15 minutes past our reservation time, which put us close to the last seating (8pm) and led to a semi-rushed meal. Service was prompt and efficient and the menu was expansive and tempting. Prices not too bad given what it is. My scotch was a good pour and not outrageously expensive and my ribeye good sized and cooked perfectly--also not too expensive for what it was. Coffee was cold because they were closed by the time we finished and were rushing to get out of there (9:30pm!). Valets handed us our keys and left, so that kinda soured things. Server messed up our check split because she was rushing to leave, which was very annoying. I'd go back but shoot to arrive around 6:30pm so I'm not given the bum's rush so the kitchen and server can go home

Will not be a returning customer. It was my partner and I’s anniversary and we were excited to have a night out and treat ourselves, the service ruined it. Our server Lindsay, checked my boyfriend’s ID for a drink which is perfectly normal, but she was staring at it for around 45 seconds before giving it back. It was as if she really thought he was underage and wanted to catch us with a fake ID (most customers under 21 wouldn’t be dining at this establishment). If she was going to be that hardcore about checking ID’s, she should’ve checked mine as well because I’m years younger than him. She didn’t even ask for mine and we shared the drink. We weren’t in formal attire so I think she assumed we weren’t going to tip her and gave us the bare minimum service. I heard her asking the tables around us if they had their valet tickets but didn’t ask us, just dropped off the check (as we were eating) and told us to have a good night. She assumed we didn’t have a car but then again, do you really think we would take the bus home? Don’t assume anything, treat us the way you treated the other diners. We had to tell her that we had a valet ticket. The food was good, but for the price, I expect stellar service and unfortunately it was quite subpar. Don’t order the olive oil cake, extremely dry, not worth it. The atmosphere was dark and there was a couple near us who were taking a myriad of flash photos which was also taking away from the atmosphere, they should have a rule for this. Overall, you can find a better place for the fine dining price, and for $260, you can do better Lindsay. I’ll find a nicer place for our next anniversary.

Great service and nice ambiance place. my husband decided to treat himself to the $125 steak on the special. Prepared perfect and taste was amazing. My sister got the chicken parm. It arrived a little burnt and way too much cheese. Not worth the cost. The drinks were great. Had cosmos and manhattans. The waiter asked if we want our dirty rocks to which we said yes. I thought he would have left the shaker seeing that's what is dirty rocks. The desserts were amazing. The bill came and we knew it would be insane, BUT to see a $2.50 charge twice for DIRTY rocks, which was ICE, floored us. Totally turned off. We order not one but two $125 steak specials, and you charge us for ICE? You may want to embarrass yourself and mention that you charge that before asking if the person wants their dirty rocks, which for a $17 martini should already be in the price. Now your martini for a simple cosmo is $19.50. Our bill was over $500. Food was wonderful but the greedy charging for ice cubes will keep us away.
