Let me start by saying, my family and I have been coming to North Conway for 30+ years. We frequent the outlets and restaurant scene on every occasion that we are here, including Barley and Salt. We typically come for some drinks post shopping as we typically find the food sub par.Today, my husband and I sat down with our 2.5 year old son at open (11:30am). We verbalized to the hostess that our parents were shopping nearby and will be meeting us. Despite the restaurant being empty, she told us they were unable to "save spots." I kindly told her we were not expecting spots saved but would like a table they could easily join soon after. We were placed at a 4 person table with a 2 person empty table right next to us.Our server Tyler was very personable and we told him my parents would be coming as well. He began to move the empty 2 person table next to ours and was quickly dressed down (absolutely lambasted) by the hostess/manager in front of all 6 patrons. Again- the restaurant was *empty* and instead of taking her staff out back to respectfully tell the waiter how they operate, she proceeded to disrespectfully say "Tyler. What are you doing? We do NOT save spots. Never move a table without checking with us first." Any genuine human being could see the look of defeat on Tyler's face after he was essentially verbally assaulted by who I assume is his boss. Despicable. They also wouldn't move the two person table 2 minutes later when my parents showed up but instead placed a chair at the end of our table until my mom complained of space. We were given dirty looks by every staff member (except Tyler) thereafter.Sadly, I forgot to mention we were seated right next to the hostess stand. If I had a nickel for how many times they complained about mothers bringing in their strollers, I could probably buy the place out and fire all the petty players in this place. They do know this is a family town, yes?Speaking of family-for the usual chill, ski townie vibe North Conway has (that has kept us coming back all of these years,) this place just aint it. Staff 1000% needs a vibe check or for them to relocate to somewhere where their posh attitudes fit better. This place is a far cry from some Michelin star restaurant so stop acting like it's one.

Visited after the recent storm and was able to get delicious food (ramen was fantastic) and drinks, and was super appreciative of the free wifi since the cell towers were down from the storm. Great place to stop if you're headed through North Conway! Also looking forward to seeing the chef on Guys Grocery Games!

Husband and I had dinner here tonight as our first stop to our anniversary week extravaganza! And extravaganza it was!!!! I had the Thai coconut chicken twin tacos which were the best tacos I have probably ever had! Tons of beer on tap and our server was delightful!!!!! Husband had the fish and chips which was a huge portion and he loved his meal as well! All in all a wonderful experience in a very modern atmosphere! Will visit again when back in the area! If not once more before we head home! Nice job barley and salt!

Exceptional in every way.The use of the "text wait for table" is standard now a days but was used in conjunction with greeters getting to know the guests. We we're told an hour wait but could choose the bar seats(all filled) or wait at a self attended waiting bar The bartender was super busy(he tended bar and served many tables in the bar area.)but he did not rush anyone all the while giving great service. His Gin Martini was the best I've had in the north country. The bar and the restaurant are a modern industrial feel. Everything is super clean and efficient. The atmosphere was lively. We started with the wings appetizer with garlic and ginger. We found a lot of the offerings Asian inspired and we were very pleased. There were 5 large full wings cooked crispy and delicious. Our entrees were also Asian fusion inspired tacos. Thai Curry chicken and Korean BBQ pork, 2 very large tacos each. ($16 per plate they are a great value also)We did not get the giant freshly made soft pretzel appetizer, opting for the wings but for desert we chose to share the salted caramel bread pudding. What a treat. Yes you guessed it the bread used was soft pretzels. Just the perfect mix of caramel and fresh cream made the perfect dessert to share. We chose a couple of special menu cocktails as well and they were very good. The surprise ending to a great dinner and drinks was the bill. Even choosing cocktails with Barr Hill Gin with apps, entrees and dessert the total bill with tips was under$140.

Love this place. Food is good. Had wings-they are real wings and huge. Meatloaf was great and mashed potatoes were excellent. Truffle fries were the best I've ever had. Salads are really good as well. Went 3 times in 5 days. Service was also really good except for one waiter who seemed to be distracted by something. Brought wrong drinks and gave us the wrong check.
