The free popcorn is the bomb. Bartenders are awesome.

Prices are fair, service is decent, but it’s not the best sports bar - they use direct tv so if there’s inclement weather, you can’t watch the game(s).

State Street Saloon is one of those places that make you feel welcomed. Good food at reasonable prices. Going strong forever in good times and hard times . It defines the true Portsmouth, old school, hard working town that has seen a lot of changes since my parents moved here in 1979.

Seafood chowder, as most reviews stated, was great! Friendly service, clean place. A great stop for lunch. We split a special and they very nicely plated it in a way that made it easier to share.

Not impressed although recommended by a friend. Good beer selection. I had the hot lobster roll. The lobster smelled fishy and was overcooked. I will be trying other places when I'm back In Portsmouth.
Your typical bar. Great selection of music. I had to get a lobster roll and it was quite good.

Just moved here from Mississippi for a work contract. Looked for a local, hometown bar that isn't a chain. After going to 6 previous bars, I found State Street Saloon. This place checks all my boxes. Small, intimate bar with great food, great drinks, 17 tvs showing sports, great music, and most importantly fantastic and friendly service. They staff is very welcoming and treat you as a friend. My place for the next 6 months.

I had the medium lobster roll, which is 4 ounces. Great price, and the sides were delicious. Hot fresh fries, and a good size portion of coleslaw. Everything was so good and we ate it so fast that I didn’t even have time to take a picture.

Food was okay, not fantastic but the service was amazing. The waitress Samantha was very kind and accommodating of all my dietary restrictions. She made the experience good!
