Called and was told I did not order corn tortillas despite the options at ordering of flour or corn on the app. Just got yelled at by some man who answered their phone rather than try to resolve the issue. Chicken soup not what I'm used to at Mexican restaurants. Whole pieces if chicken with bone and skin and what appears to be frozen vegetables. Tortilla soup much better.

Good food. Friendly staff. Very enjoyable.Update: I live around the corner and frequently eat here. The food is always very good.I don't understand why El Rey seems empty when the restaurants next door are busy. I've eaten at both of the restaurants next door and the food was mediocre at best. Very confusing.

Best Mexican food in the area, maybe all of monmouth county. Everything is authentic, delicious and expertly seasoned. The chicken soup alone is worth the trip. And its BYOB. Great service. Comfortable, spacious seating. Cheerful, vibrant decor. Terrific find!

I'd like to give it 4.5 stars, but that's not an option. The food was very yummy and super fresh. We had a vegetarian, a gluten-free eater, and a diabetic all eat here. There are lots of options for everyone.

We came here because of all the good reviews but were sadly let down. It took way too long to get seated so we were close to leaving. They charge you for water… and our chicken and steak were dry. Our waitress was very nice and it was a fun vibe inside but overall I wouldn’t
