It's been over 80 years since singing cowboy Roy Rogers and his trusty equine companion Trigger rode the range avenging evil and swooning the female cowpoke. So you have to ask... what in tarnation does he know about fast food? Apparently not much. Whether you treat yourself to a burger, roast beef or fried chicken you'd be well advised to smother your meal in whatever condiments you can find. Tasteless except for the requisite salt bath, Roy's sing-a-long menu is just as forgettable as his reign as a B-movie troubadour. Roy, just be glad you're dead. One star.

After years of eating at Roy Rodger's, either at the stand alone locations or at N.J rest stops, it became a staple in my fast food diet. Moving out West, it's been years since I've returned to Roy's and recently found it to be just as good as I remember. Thinly sliced, juicy, flavorful and lean with a fresh baked bun and one bite in, I knew I was back home. Should franchises open in different parts of the country, I can't imagine Arby's staying in business, with their chunk and formed "loaves" of ground gristle, fat and additives passed off as "roast beef". No Arbys, you "DONT have the Meats" You have assorted unidentifiable road kill passed off as edible.

Everyone was friendly but just looked like they were done, ready to just go home. Other than that the service was just fine and food was as we ordered and the bathroom was clean and that's always a plus.

I ordered a sourdough cheeseburger without the garlic sauce and they smothered it with garlic sauce. Never said sorry or anything. I ordered inside and made a point to not put the sauce on the burger. The cashier who was great even went back to make sure. Oh well. This is the reason for the lower stars.
Had lunch here on Friday, Sept 15. The food was great as always (Roast beef sandwich, onion rings, 2 chicken legs). This place never disappoints. The gentlement who took my order (forgot his name) make me a black & white shake (not officially on the menu) and even offered to put my milkshake (for the ride home) in their fridge until I was ready to leave. Who does that? Nobody but Roy's did and thought that was very thoughtful. Will definitely come back soon!
