We first dined here 12/31. Everyone was very welcoming, friendly, and attentive, and we found the decor inviting. Being able to bring our favorite wine heightened our anticipation. This all lead to high hopes of an excellent meal. Our wine was promptly opened and poured. We first sampled the bread, served with herbed olive oil. Frankly, the bread seemed a bit "crumbly", for lack of a better description. We found both the texture and taste a little disappointing. (Because bread is often the first thing customers taste, we believe it should be delicious with a pillowy texture, and preferably warm, as that sets the tone for the rest of the meal). Our appetizers were fried calamari and Buffalo mozzarella. Both were prepared well, with fresh ingredients. The calamari was fried to a delicate perfection, and the tomato sauce served with it was a nice complement. Next came our house salad, with a tasty house dressing that seemed somewhere between a vinaigrette and a mustard dressing. (No choices of dressing were offered). Again, fresh ingredients, all tasty and in just the right quantity for our appetite. We both ordered the rack of lamb as our entrees. These came served with a variety of sauteed vegetables, including broccoli, carrots, peas, and others that escape my memory at the moment. Unfortunately, the vegetables were not very hot when served. They were well-prepared but might best be described as very warm, but certainly not hot. The rack of lamb was served hot, and wasn't heavily seasoned, making it somewhat mild to the taste. It was prepared well - certainly acceptable - but I've had tastier, and more tender lamb. We both ordered it cooked medium, but should have ordered it well done. That was our mistake, as the kitchen fulfilled our order. The juices mixing with the vegetables just detracted from their taste. For dessert, we both enjoyed a cappuccino and shared a chocolate mousse. The mousse arrived in a pie-slice, making it easy to share, and was as smooth and tasty as any I've ever had. Overall, it was a pleasant meal, with some disappointments. With everything seasoned so lightly, perhaps the best description of everything would be that it was prepared with caution, and perhaps a tad too much of it, as some of the dishes seem intended to neither offend nor seduce anyone's appetite. We'll probably visit Mia again in the future at some point, as the staff was attentive and really made us feel welcome without repeated interruptions, but can't say the food was so great that we're already yearning to return.
