Decor was of a bistro and had ample space. The staff very welcoming, helpful, and professional. This is farm to table restaurant The food was high quality, freshly prepared but came out in a timely fashion. The grilled whole Bronzino and the pork skewers really went above and beyond for the little touches that might get overlooked show a real pride in their food and service. The owner definitely went above and beyond to make a great experience even better. We will definitely be back again soon.

Great service and amazing food. We had the sashimi app, pork bao, wagyu skewers (my 9 month old had some too, unsalted), branzino, ramen and gyoza. It was all fabulous. The staff was very nice and attentive. We will definitely be back.

This place rocks! Just what Caldwell needed. The pork dishes are incredible and you can taste how fresh the meat is. Get the slider!

This is the best Japanese grill place I’ve ever been to. Love the niku set we ordered.

We enjoyed an outstanding dinner at Kurobuta White Charcoal Grille in Caldwell, NJ. This restaurant is in the old Dough pizza location. It is a Japanese/Asian fusion tapas type of restaurant. They cook on white charcoal imported from Japan, and the amazing pork comes from foraging pigs raised on their very own farm in NJ. You can really taste the difference in the fresh pork. We enjoyed a humongous tiger prawn; a tomahawk pork chop; roasted cauliflower with tahini; melt in your mouth pork carpaccio; chilean sea bass skewers; scallops in soy butter sauce; fried oysters; smoked tuna dip topped with sumac spice.

Review Wow. The sauces were subtle, tasty, tangy. Just enough Japanese regard for fish. Pork carpaccio from their own farm raised Berkshire pigs was light yet hearty with just the right amount of pepper that added rather than competed. Wontons tender and filling. Seafood platter (Kaisen set) included snapper, salmon whole prawn bbq'd to perfection on per-fectly used white charcoals (WC-Very clean burning properties, no odors or smoke, long burn time and high constant heat. Helps the food retain it's original flavor.) Ramen broth simple (two ingredients) and divine. Owners and staff attentive and kind. You feel like family. Finally a place worthy of one's love for Japanese food.

Very good teppanyaki and grilled food. The menu is mainly pork and seafood but the quality is superb. We ordered the scallops as a starter and that was outstanding. The skewers were cooked well with a hint of charcoal but not burnt. Highly recommend and it’s BYO which is a plus.

Good experience! The food was delicious and delightful. We liked the meet plater a lot, and also the fish (but it depends day to day which fish they have) our order got a bit mixed up, and it took over an hour for our order to come in. One of our waiters were sort of confused, but we didn’t mind at all.

We had previously been here for lunch with a more limited menu. This time we went for the real deal and were not disappointed. The pork wrapped tapas-style selections were nice and crispy on the outside, and very flavorful. The manager Michael was very accommodating and helped us make our selections and we all had a great experience.

Delicious food and excellent friendly service. Attention to detail and flavors of dishes were very well executed. Our party of 6 enjoyed a fun night trying a variety of dishes, and hearing Frank (owner) and Mike (manager) explain how they raise their own pigs humanely and import their white charcoal from Japan over a few bottles of wine (BYOB). Highly recommended!

It was mine and my wife’s first time dining at Kurobuta and the food/service was outstanding! Michael was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. He explained several things on the menu and helped us with the ordering since it’s a bit different with tapas. The food was delicious. Everything tasted very fresh and flavorful. The Niku Set was a great way to try a variety of meat. The scallops, conch, and pork ragu dishes were among our favorites. Although there was nothing we didn’t like. The restaurant has an overall great atmosphere as well. We look forward to going back and trying everything else on the menu.
