We visited Hemingway's for the first time for my daughters birthday dinner, and man were we really let down for most of our dinner. To start, we waited over an hour between appetizer and our meal. Our waitress kept disappearing for long extended periods, to the point that another waiter saw us sitting there with empty drinks & clearly trying to find our waitress. Piero was our saving grace during the disaster dinner. Then, once our food came out (after we asked where our dinner was) half of our food was ice cold, while the other half wasn't even ready with the other meals. Bland cold food made for a lackluster experience. THEN we waited an additional 20 minutes for boxes, while our waitress chatted it up with the table next to us since she knew them personally, again Piero helped us get boxes. To top it off - our waitress forgot to bring the dessert and birthday candle to sing Happy Birthday to my daughter. Piero once again saved the day and brought that out too right before we left. We were there for two hours in total and barely ate anything. After finding the manager and speaking with him to tell him about our experience, he was great and took the time to listen. Two of our meals were taken off the bill at dinner, and we were given free breakfast at the buffet the next morning there. Hat off to Piero, Bill & Cataya for being so great to us in the end. We probably won't be returning, but we appreciate the effort to make it right.

Chicken was dry and rubbery, and had tons of salt. Only ate a small portion and left the rest. Honestly, it was worse than NJ diner food.

Hemingway’s was amazing! The servers were outstanding and food was excellent. My only complaint was the male host who greeted customers.Did not even say hello very rude. This position is so incredibly important to have positive and pleasant employees welcoming customers to your restaurant.Everything else was amazing and made up for my horrible first impression. This was our 25th Wedding Anniversary .

Everything was great. We had the early bird special which consisted of a three course meal; a soup or salad, main dish, and a dessert all for $32 a person. The server was sweet, attentive, and probably bored because it was a Sunday with nothing going on. So I was happy to give her something to do.

After careful consideration, (I sat on this for a week) I have decided to share my experience at this restaurant to provide constructive feedback with the hopes that management will make changes. For the appetizer, I chose the tuna tartare. Unfortunately, the pineapple was frozen (the menu stated apple, but it wasn't), and the tuna lacked sauce, which is essential for enhancing the flavor of raw tuna. This preparation led me to believe that the dish may not have been freshly made: which could be a violation when dealing with raw fish. For the main course, I ordered a filet steak ($37) medium-rare, but it was served well-done. That's not even close, and a restaurant of this calibre should definitely know how to cook a steak. Although I hesitated to return it, the attentive waitress noticed the discrepancy and kindly had it replaced. However, the second steak, while cooked to the correct doneness, did not appear to be a filet cut. Based on its grain and texture, and my husband's expertise in meat smoking, we believe it was a different cut of meat.I would like to clarify that our server was not at fault for these issues.Considering the cost of dining out since food prices have risen considerably since COVID, this experience was notably disappointing. The total bill was $110 (without tip), and regrettably, we do not plan to return due to these obvious culinary shortcomings.*** UPDATE: ***Upon careful examination of multiple reviews spanning the last few months, it's evident that this restaurant consistently fails to properly prepare steak, a recurring issue that demands immediate attention and correction - and yet it continues, uncorrected.

Was there for Thanksgiving. Chafers were empty, crudite platters for empty all night no plates. When plates did come out they were dirty. Took 45 min to get a glass of water. Only plus was did have a great
I was very disappointed in the Thanksgiving buffet this year. The food was all cold. I had to dry swallow most of my meal because our server only brought one glass of water to a table of four. The drink I ordered never arrived. All I wanted was to get out of there, but as a final insult I waited 20 minutes after eating to get the check. Hemmingway's has always been one of my favorite restaurants in Cape May, but last night was a real let down. I will not go back for a while, and certainly not for the Thanksgiving buffet.

Our server Sandra was the nicest lady! Very prompt service. The food was super good, mozzarella was extremely fresh, and they had the best french fries! The creme brulee with apricot was the best creme brulee I've ever had at a restaurant. 10 out of 10 will come

The food was good, simple but good. Really enjoyed the breakfast benedict, and the hash was very, very crispy. Service was friendly and prompt. Definitely recommend it for breakfast.
