Normally I dont write reviews unless I've had an awesome experience. But this was AWFUL! I would be remiss if I dont warn other customers.Cornbread was undercooked, mushy not edible. Hard to believe they served this meal of burnt tasteless bland mac n cheese, partially cooked candied yams and overcooked whiting. I am embarrassed for them. I will never eat here again or recommend this place!

I ordered food for my boyfriend and I yesterday and the food wasn’t throughly cooked. The fried catfish wasn’t cooked all the way and still was RAW. The yams also tasted extremely bad and were burnt/over cooked. My boyfriend instantly through up after biting into the catfish and tasting the rawness. This is unacceptable how do you serve people food this way?

Man I ordered a catfish dinner it came to $16 and I only got one piece of fish that was supposed to be fried but it was soft and mushy the spinach taste was off the potato salad was good and the cornbread was cold…I’m so disappointed.

I went for the chicken dinner on the suggestion of folks who told me it was delicious. It was just ok. The chicken didn't have any seasoning, I was not happy about that, might have been because I was the first order of the day, maybe they hadn't gotten their mojo yet. The collard greens were some of the best I've ever tasted :) The mac and cheese was below average. I go to soul food spots for the seasoning, where they aint worried about your cholesterol count. It's obviously a cheat day when I show up. Not a spot that will have me venture out of Montclair.

Yall are lying about the reviews because for 1, I used to work there so I know its bs. The only season they use is too much salt and butter. No, you don't get fresh food because they barely clean. If you see what the kitchen looks like, I promise you on everything you would not eat out of there.

Unfortunately, our food ordered today were not good. The 3 orders of whiting fish was old and dry, the catfish was not what it was expected, the mac and cheese as well as the corn bread was burnt.

I really haven't eaten there yet. But they need to show a complete view of their menu and not be cut off so customers can see totally what is offered. To order from the menu what are the side dishes and other?

I was actually delivering a order mom and dad ordered,but it smelled wonderful. I could smell the fresh grease or oil used ,for there chicken. I didn't have time for an order for myself, but I'm going to get one ,this week. Looking forward to to it .

Came out Last Night, I am big on Soulfood, and also Food Critic. I was disappointed at my food. Rice was cold, Chicken wasn't hot at all and the sauce they put over it ?, not sure what kind of BBQ Sauce that was, but was not impressed. The Mac and chz was good and Collard Greens. Now let's talk Peach Cobbler Really. I have no clue what they gave me but it wasn't good.

I have never had a problem with their food before Covid. I dont know if they changed cooks but the food was not good both times. I didnt write a review the first time because I figured i will try again on a different night. This review is in regards to my most recent visit. For starters, the lady at the door was very snappy, it Friday night and your business survived Covid. Be happy please.Got my food home and I was highly disappointed. The candied yams was red for some reason and tasted different, didnt eat it. My and my husband's fried fish was UNDERCOOKED and mushy, I couldnt eat it! The mac and cheese was ok but it had something crunchy in it, stopped eating. My son's chicken was still pink, over it. Needless to say, we order 3 plates of food and all of it went in the garbage. I had no desire to take the food back to the snappy lady at the door, money wasted. Im sorry but I will not be back... I wish them the best!

Inconsistent with the food, and the service! Sometimes you get really amazing, well seasoned food, other times you get watery/bottom of the pot Mac and cheese ? you know that’s been there all day... I wish I knew which chef was which. As far as customer service, a smile never heart! I’ll still go there when I want a j*** chicken dinner!
