Looks like a family own restaurant , the food was good and our server was super friendly. There were some kids in the restaurant late night, which is why I say looked like family owned. They were well behaved, but when there's kids around, one had to be on their best behavior IN A BAR! Other than that it's cozy and will visit again.

Sluna Restaurant & Bar in Cliffside Park was recommended to me by my girlfriend while we were out for a walk. The location is quite inconspicuous and could be termed a hole in the wall, but we were eager to try their pupusas after hearing they were made nearby. The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived, with only a couple of individuals at the bar and a small party at a table. The waiter swiftly greeted us and advised us of the menu. We ordered four of each type of pupusa (Frijol y Queso and Revueltas) and a tamal. However, we were shocked when our order took about an hour to arrive, despite the fact that the restaurant was not particularly busy. While we waited, we noticed other items being sent out for delivery or pickup, but we never received an update on our order. When we eventually got our dinner, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that the pupusas and tamal were delicious. Perhaps we were just hungry, but the taste was delicious. After our food arrived, the server was attentive, but we would have appreciated more communication during the lengthy wait. We also had to pay in cash, despite the fact that the sign outside claimed they accepted all cards, which was inconvenient and just a piece of a paper on the wall said cash onlySluna Restaurant & Bar was a unique dining experience. Based on our wait time and lack of communication about our order, it appears to be a better option to order for delivery or pickup rather than dining in.

Yum! My brother found this place. Great pupusas, tamales, platanos, flan, etc.! Service was also wonderful!

You know that feeling when you go to a restaurant and feel like you're being ignored by the waiter? That's not the case here. The staff at S Luna are among the most attentive of any at any restaurant I've known. This feels less like a business and more like visiting the home of a very dear friend. What about the food? It's delicious. Would a dear friend serve you anything else? I went with the steak (churrasco with onions) while my wife opted for shrimp and garlic. Both were great. The wine was a wonderful compliment and the glasses are filled high. Get some water too. Start with the traditional Salvadoran pupusa appetizer. The pork and cheese was fantastic. Plantains are fried, crunchy, sweet and delicious. Atmosphere is OK (small place with a small bar) and the music was a bit loud when we visited, but there was a big group there too. And a party needs music. It's a place to head for a celebration, but also a meal worth celebrating. Bring your friends so you can turn up the music and enjoy.
